Omega has been in bed with the Olympics committee for a long time, being the "official time keeper" for most of the events. What this basically means is that Omega gets to put their name on the clocks and such that time events. But it is possible that Omega is actually making some of these time keepers, most of which are digital these days and rely on sensors, rather than human hands for operation.Having said that, the opportunity for Omega to release special Olympics event watches is too tempting to resist, and this time around, they have something really special. Despite the thick layer of controversy which exists atop this year's Summer Olympics, Omega is able to provide a truly charming timepiece in commemoration of the event. Surely to become a collectors item as the watch so gracefully combines the five ring Olympian logo with chronograph functionality that the Omega Speedmaster is know for. Of course, not settling there, Omega had to fill each ring with a different function. So

The 1970s gave birth to four high-end stainless-steel mechanical watches with integrated bracelets. The first three were all signed by Gerald Genta, during what many consider to be his creative peak. The other was an ambitious response from a talented 23-year-old named Jorg Hysek. (For many years, it was thought that Genta was responsible for the first Overseas; Vacheron has however confirmed for us that Jorg Hysek was responsible.)Launched last, the Overseas (then called reference 222, in reference to the 222nd anniversary of the founding of Vacheron Constantin) was unlike anything else that had come out of Vacheron Constantin’s manufacture. Incoming.....'R' You Serious???
My name is Roger. Same as one of Hamilton's 1955 14K solid yellow gold models...So I just had to have one!! Which of course kicked me off on acquiring 'R' named pre-1960 Hamiltons!! Eight so far in the past 6 weeks; plus one on the way (Raleigh 1931 Motif Engraved) and one that's been deemed an honorary 'R' - "Round 22J" until its real name is known. Mr Ross is completely unwell and is awaiting a heart/lung transplant.The stark lighting for these images has highlighted every scratch - yuk! NOS crystals are either in hand or awaited for the whole lot and the plan is to get some or all of the faces refinished as time and cash permits. Keeping my eyes peeled for Messrs Reardon, Raymon, Ryan, Rutledge (insert insane giggle emoticon) as well as alternative face types or better examples of all vintage Rs.Apologies for the very ordinary images; looking forward to setting up a better light source and background. A project for another time; channelling funds to watches is much more fun!

My son has taken a great interest in watches since I started wearing a Sub C. Thanks to David SW, I got a great deal on this Speedmaster Pro to share with him. Having it sized today and also going to get a leather band as his wrist is a bit smaller then mine.
