Again my apologise for those members who have already viewed this thread
With all of the speculation swirling around about the term "TRENCH WATCH" recently I have decided to share some of my research.I found this evidence about 2-3 months ago while doing research for my 2nd book, "Waltham Trench Watches of the Great War".This is pretty much the Holy Grail of documents!Yes, they were called "Trench Watches" during the Great War and it looks like the Waltham Watch Company coined the term.I have found no earlier evidence using this phase so until something else pops up down the road I am going to credit Waltham for coining the term.A couple of other later adverts do exist using the term "Trench Watch" from 1917 and 1918 but these adverts were from small time jewelers, they were not from a major manufacturer like Waltham. This advert was published on April 16, 1916 in the UK, two full years into the Great War.When it comes to a lot of urban legends and myths there is usually some truth involved, but then the facts gets twisted over the years. But, in this instanc
OK maybe it's just me, but am I the only one noticing the correlation between the feminization of men and the size of their watches? I'm only 38. Just a puppy to a lot of you, but I'm old enough to remember when men where men. Growing up watching the men around me and my heroes on the big screen and looking at the guys around me now, I'm saying What The Hell Happened? When I was a kid men drank Genesee and Pabst Blue Ribbon from a can and J&B whiskey, wore men's jeans, Drove big sedans with V8's and their motorcycles were dirty and greasy. Now guys drink the latest fad drinks, you can't tell men's jeans from woman's, and their vehicles have more bling then Liberoachi. Not too long ago I got a movie projector and as I'm sitting watching all my favorite old movies from the 50's, 60's, 70's and even the 80's. I notice the leading men are older, have wrinkles, hair coming out of their nose and ears. They had a hard weathered look like they took what the world had dished out and survive
I just picked this up from the Omega Boutique at Tysons Galleria. I've been interested in this watch ever since I saw Mark Harmon wearing one with the orange rubber band on NCIS a couple of seasons ago. Then this year Keith Urban wore one like this while judging on American Idol.I've only had it a couple of hours, but so far really like how it wears.
