Baume & Mercier Add New Models To Its William Baume Editions: The Retrograde, Ultraflat, And Tourbillon Watches
At Baume et Mercier (aka Baume & Mercier), the William Baume name has always applied to very classic simple watches. If you want a handsome and timeless Swiss watch that won't utterly devastate your bank account, the William Baume collection is usually a good place to look. Now, getting a bit more serious with the line, Baume et Mercier takes an interesting new direction that is almost Teutonic in design. The William Baume Retrograde, Ultraflat, and Tourbillon have a decidedly retro appeal to them from design of the lugs to the classic guilloche machine work on the dial. Each of the watches comes in a limited edition of only 178 pieces each, but the Tourbillon is limited to only 10 pieces.While there are three new models, they each share a lot of the same design cues. The cases are very compact looking, especially with the Ultraflat, and are in rose gold. Case width is also comparable at 41mm. There is lug designs which are worth noting as well. They had their watches built in several places around the world and they were running high on the "takes a licking and keeps on ticking". Now they were able to import them at a cheaper cost. They also were the first watch company to sell watches outside of a jewelry store. You could pick up a Timex at the drug store which was totally unheard of at that time. They offered a 30% margin to those other retailers and a 50% margin to the Jewelers.

well this is an interesting way for me end the year..... I'm on a wait list for a Sub C which is awesome, they told me it should be here with in 3-4 months this was a month ago.but I have a problem now, a mint box and papers Day Date 18238 yellow gold/champagne dial came up for sale from a friend of a friend. I tried doing a search but couldn't find any results: does anyone know if the Explorer 214270 bracelet fits on the GMT ii BLNR?They're both 20mm and look the same. It would be awesome to be able to store the PCL bracelet away, put on the brushed Explorer bracelet, and just put a strap on the Explorer :)Thanks!
