Ebel 8124913 wrist watches news:
I know this has been discussed several times but I need a little clairfication. When you buy a watch overseas and travel back to the US you are allowed a certain amount per person / family that is tax free. If you are over that limit do you just pay the difference at customs.ExampleLets say $1000 Tax free , watch is $5000, do you only pay taxes on the difference. Also what tax rate do you pay. Thanks!!
Hey guys ! ! ! ! ! !I had a VERY exciting morning ! ! ! ! !This morning me and Tiffany drove about 50 miles Northwest to the town of St. Charles, Illinois. In St. Charles at the Pheasant Run Resort they were holding the "Military Fest".I was hoping to score some watches but then something MUCH better happened ! ! ! ! ! ! !This is pretty much a DREAM COME TRUE ! ! ! ! !There were two Great War (WWI) re-enactment scenes at the show. The first one was pretty cool, a trench scene but the second one stopped me in my tracks and my jaw just about hit the floor ! ! ! !I knew who it was the second that I saw him.............General "Blackjack" Pershing himself ! ! ! ! ! ! !A professional photographer was taking pictures of him and the other men for some military magazine so I snapped a few shots for myself. We waited around for a few minutes and we got a chance to speak with him and his wife (the nurse in the pictures). His real name is Dane and he looks almost EXACTLY like General Pershing himself
UPDATEDREFER TO POST #17Yes, the back needs to come off so we can see the movement, but I don't trust this to my own beginner's skills. Just sent it off to my watchmaker today. But I have a question that maybe someone can help me with:My son showed up today with this Stainless steel-cased chronograph, saying that he had rescued it from a storage area that was being sold off. It has two recessed dials, one a sub-second hand, the other a "minutes elapsed" dial. The watch also has a sweep second hand with a start-stop-continue function and a flyback function. The dial was evidently somewhat silvered, but now it's "patina"-ed (read, blotchy) with bits of junk floating around under the crystal, which I think is lacquer or varnish residue that's peeling off. The watch works, all four functions, although intermittently, so I have been careful about winding it other than to check to see if the watch worked at all. There is no obvious logo on the dial, but if you stare at it for a few minutes, y
More than 5 years after announcing the 1950 composite Luminor Pam375 and after a lot of gossip on how why and if it was really launched They are starting to trickle down the pipeline Haven't seen it in person yet but it is available for me if I want it ... Who wouldn't want a dark Fiddy ?? For the price of 14k that would probably be me :-) I'll pay the boutique a visit and get some wrist shots and see it in person then get back to you guys maybe sell my 587 and get the 375 ?? Hmm
I have been a member of TRF for a couple of years, finding my way here as I researched my first purchase. I have been somewhat quiet, content in many ways to just listen and learn more about a subject that has fascinated me for many years. My apologies for the lost post and if this is a repeat of any earlier threads posted here, but one of the things that drives the passion I have for collecting is the connection that people seem to have to their collection. I have alluded to my background a bit in previous posts and a bit about what my watches mean to me. For every timepiece I have, from the G-Shock that my wife bought me two decades ago, to my most recent purchase, there is a connection. I suspect for all of you in this seemingly crazy pursuit of ours, your watches have a special meaning and each have a story. Share if yours if you like. Here is mine:I am the product of a home in which I had two parents who, after half of a century remain together. Both grew up on the east coast o
