To accompany its highly successful ¡°Dark Side of the Moon¡± collection, Omega launched the Omega Speedmaster ¡°Grey Side of the Moon¡± last year. Fashioned from ceramic and platinum, the watch features several design elements that distinguish it from other Omega watches.The watch’s look is inspired by the lunar dust that captured the footprints of the Apollo astronauts in the iconic images beamed back to Earth. When creating this watch, Omega had to employ a special process to capture the color of the lunar surface. The ceramic material starts out white, but it takes on the required darker hue in a high-temperature plasma furnace. Exposed to a proprietary mix of gasses at a temperature of 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit for three hours, the ceramic emerges in a shimmering grey. When Christopher Ward announced their SH21 movement, I made my excitement pretty well known. I mean, it's not everyday that a brand announces their first in-house movement…. let alone an affordable on-line only brand… one that has only been around for only 10 years. So, it was a big deal when it happened. Of course, the sheer fact that they made it wasn't the only exciting part, so too were the movements features and the price of the first watches they were going. For a reasonable $2,075, the C Ward released a 5-day automatic chronometer. this will be my first ap purchase. i will be picking up the roc nxt week, when i was looking at it, i realized the date changed several minutes after mn. i remember reading somewhere these watches change exactly at mn...is this true? and should i look for another one. thanks in advance
