Girard Perregaux 80490-D53-P963-KK9 wrist watches news:
Well.. My first attempt at watch tinkering was a success.. kinda It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. It took me a few seconds to figure how to get the movement out of the case. Then after a long period of staring at the movement through a magnifying glass while watching youtube videos on watch mechanics trying to identify what all the doodads and gizmos are, I discovered that although the watch was wound, the balance wheel had jumped out of its drill holes and jammed itself against the pallet fork. I took the movement apart, looked at the holes, took my handy dandy small center punch and lightly tapped the metal around the holes, then used my carborator jet drill bit kit to resize the hole back to original. put everything back together and once I figured out how to mount the balance wheel spring...... VIOLA!! It started to run. Probably the first time this thing has run since the 1970's. I added a few small drops of sewing machine oil to the friction points. cleaned up t
Hi there,Since I was swapping straps and bracelets and did some time adjustments, I had all watches together so I decided it was time for a SOTC picture:What about your collections?Kind regards,Cinq
I had a few questions for the more seasoned Forged Carbon owners:1. what can damage FC? or what's the easiest way to damage an FC case?2. how easily does FC scratch? what kind of metal can scratch it? I know the grain disguises it but how soft is the surface/susceptible is it to any scratches?3. can any light surface scratches be buffed? resurfaced?
I purchased an Omega 2225.80 yesterday. This isn't my pic but one from another site (my pics will be forthcoming later). It will be my new daily wearer. I could not be any happier.
For watches worn everyday, I remember reading somewhere that its a good idea to give your crown a good 20-30 turns every few weeks. Is there any truth to this and if so why?
