Below are two pictures that effectively show the same Omega timepiece but are, in fact, in my opinion a world apart. Both of them stopped me in my tracks when I saw them for the first time. Both for very different reasons.The first is Ed White¡¯s watch that was the first Speedy Pro to be sent into the vacuum of space and which also survived the horrific fire of Apollo1. I found this picture a little while back and, although the picture isn¡¯t great and the watch has been beaten up somewhat, I found myself staring at it for some time. I was lost in admiration and awe for what this watch had been through. The used condition actually helps with the awe that this watch carries as you start to imagine how each of those marks on the exterior of the watch were made.The second picture is one of the best Speedy Pro pictures I have ever seen and the one I voted for in the recent competition. USD5k budget,, which watch?? opinions wanted
Dear all, Hello,,, i've recently become interested in horology as I love all things of exceptional quality. I have about GPB$5000 (USD10,000) to spend on a watch to kick-off what i hope to be a life-long time hobby and i need some advice. sorry for the mistake in the title again my budget is about USD10k...I'm 19 and reasonably tall and lean so a HUGE chunky watch probably wont suit. Also as nice as they are professional styled classic watches like patek phillip and such just aren't my style as i'm more into outdoor stuff, motorsports, yachting and i need something a bit cool with a bit of bling factor but nothing over the top. I want a watch i can dress up with a nice shirt or casual with shorts and I want to be able to wear it a lot and give it a adventurous life and go swimming or whatever (even tho of course i'd normally take it off i don't want to have to worry abt it or my watch to slow me down). It has to last a long time so i can pass it on or whatever.Rolex's are nice and sure

Hello fellow TRF member I know this has been discussed many times before but I just wonder what watch connaisseurs think about this example. To be fair, I don't wear a suit daily but sometimes I do and I have a few of them in my closet. I used to wear them with a cheeper dress watch. Besides, James Bond is an example for me and since he has worn a sub I thought this would be my little wink to that.Personally, I think it's hot and my wife...well...she doesn't care that much lol So...I open this thread for some more self-awareness...What do you think or ?
