Girard Perregaux 4940 wrist watches news:
Just joined the forum in hopes of learning more about my Omega addiction. The only thing I've picked up so far is that there doesn't appear to be a cure. I think the quote I saw at the bottom of a post by one of the forum members that says "your collection isn't complete till you have them all" pretty much sums up my predicament. The slippery slope from interested to obsession was pretty steep and short.I recently purchased a new Omega Broad Arrow GMT, a used Seamaster Pro, and a vintage 1944. I'll post some pictures when I get some time. There are some real photographers who own Omegas I see. Great photo's, group. It looks like this is where the Omega gurus hang out so I hope you don't object to another newbie tagging along for the ride. Howdy to ya'll from Texas.
I am looking to make my first Panerai purchase and need some advice. I have found a great 090 and a good sale price. I do love the watch, only thing is it is all polished. Not sure if i should be considering a brushed steel for my first, and possibly onlyI am going to look at a 312 and what i like most about it is that it is all brushed, and sandwich face. This would be full price. Finally, there is a 176. I like the watch as well with its sandwich face, brushed look, but it has a simple face. Any thoughts?Brian
Great news from europastar.com:RGM Watch Company's new manufacture movement - made in the USA June 19, 2008 By Keith W. Strandberg At one time, the United States was the centre of watchmaking for the world. In the hey-day of industrial, volume watchmaking, the famous names of Hamilton, Ball, Elgin and others were the leaders in watchmaking innovation and production. At that time, the Swiss were eager to learn from the Americans. Unfortunately, true watchmaking has been absent from the United States for quite some time.Roland Murphy, President, RGM Watch Company, is out to change that with his new manufacture movement. "When you are a watchmaker, your goal at some point is to make your own movement or your own complication, something of your own design when it comes to the mechanics of the watch," he explains. "We have done complications over the years, but I always wanted to do my own movement, here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I wanted to start off with something very traditiona
I figured I'd put this here, only because Costco sells other brands like Baume & Mercier, Tag, Raymond Weil, Omega, and others. This just happens to be about Oris.A friend of mine, who lives in the Bay area, said he saw the Williams F1 in his local Costco. I figured I'd go to my local store to check it out. What they had at my local Costco was a TT1 Diver, but in the display box for a Williams F1; the one that looks like a tire.I've no idea what kind of display boxes the other brands use, but it would appear as though Costco doesn't know what they're doing...
I am in the market for a speedy pro but do not have a ton of knowledge in regards to what yrs to stay away from, which version is tops (i assume hexalite with a steel back), or anything else about them really.....other than..l like them. Any pointers?
