Here is a cool watch that is up for auction, and totally unique. This watch was hand-built as a concept, but it is a perfectly beautiful watch and is available to one person. The watch is a LUM-TEC Chronograph with a California dial (half Roman numerals and half Arabic numerals). The watch has the 60 minute chronograph complication as well as synchronized 24 hour dial. The lovely blue dial is enhanced by lots of MVD lume - another unique to LUM-TEC component. hEllO everyone,i recently bought Seiko PRemier SPB001J1.A few clarfications on the model is sought for:1. In which year was this model launched by SEIKO?2. in my watch the number mentioned in the back of the case is 691589. What does it mean? Does it have any reference to the serial number of the model manufactured?This is because in the review of the above model being made - (Review of the Seiko Premier Automatic SPB001J1, By: John B. Holbrook, II on 9/21/09), the number of that watch was 800384. The review was made in 2009 and my watch was purchased on April 2010. Does it mean my watch was an old model?humbly requested to clarify the above.ThanksKareth

The casual collector.
This is in response to the thread for the serious collector (re:Location, Location, Location) without derailing that thread from it's purpose. To begin, I am quite often amazed at the attention to detail and intricate knowledge some of our members have in this hobby. I am equally impressed with the lengths to which some members will go to finish a particular watch correctly or fill a gap in their collection. These serious collectors are the repository of knowledge and the arbiters of what is correct or not correct for a particular watch or brand.However, I suggest that the casual collector is the most common type of collector. This is the person that buys what they like, whether it is correct or not, and wears their collection for the simple pleasure it brings. As an example, and speaking only for myself, I'll describe how I see my role in the hobby.I'm not running a museum. I just want a nice watch to wear that is aesthetically pleasing (to me) and keeps time...accuracy is a nic

I am not too familiar with Omega so i am asking for some help. Can someone let me know if the below pics of a speedy pro, 50 anniversary model, checks out? Is the band/box complete and consistent with this model? What is a reasonable price for a gently used model? What are some things to check for when tyring to authenticate the watch?Thanks.

Leather Straps for Rolex Clasp?
Does anyone have any experience with a company that could make leather straps for the Rolex clasp?Something similar to RubberB in terms of concept?Obviously leather would have to be custom made because you can't simply trim it like you can with rubber.I'd like a custom leather strap that would fit into the Datejust 41 clasp.Don't get me wrong, I love just about every Rolex bracelet, but I think the DJ can look nice on a strap and would definitely get something custom to try out.I don't know if it's worth the hassle because any regular strap and buckle can work, but something custom while using the clasp would be ideal.
