Baselworld is the peak time of year for the launch of new watches. But every so often it also serves as the coming-out party for a new brand that¡¯s entering the market. Montblanc TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch Transforms
There was a lot of excitement at Montblanc in Geneva for this watch. They only had one of them?at SIHH and it was in a case. Still a prototype but I got to check it out a bit. In a nutshell, you press down on a lever on the left side of the case and the watch dial magically transforms into something else. Not only does the look change, but more importantly the functions do as well. One face shows the time (regulator style with?retrograde minutes) and the date, while the second style is a chronograph.In the included video you can wait through most of it or skip ahead near the end when they discuss and show some rather funtastic special effects of the TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis watch. Question on the Explorer II
Two Rollies that I'm jonesing for are the old SD and either the GMT IIc or the Explorer II.Does the Explorer II have the same crown positions and do they set the hands in the same way as the GMT II? I'm familiar with the GMT II's setting protocol as it's the same as my Omega Great White GMT.The lack of a movable bezel is not a problem as I've never had to track more than two time zones at a time. TIA.

Hamilton Electrics?
I've been enjoying the posts on this site since the summer. but I haven't seen anyone post a picture of a Hamilton Electric (except for Tom's Meteor on his Avatar. I just started collecting them and would be interested to see what others have done to restore them.I will post some pictures when I have them.

Went to buy a Milgauss GV, came home with this instead...
Last friday I decided to do some watch shopping. In the crosshairs was the Milgauss GV, Daytona or a Datejust II. At the rolex AD the GV and Daytona fell flat for me, they just didn't get my pulse racing like they should at that price. The DJII was surprisingly amazing, with black stick dial and fluted WG bezel it was a vision of classic beauty with a modern twist. I left the AD thinking I would just grab some lunch, hit the other Omega AD, and go back for the DJII. Well I made the mistake of asking the Omega AD if he had a Ploprof, and you bet they did, with extra orange strap. It was love at first sight and there was no question that I had to have this watch. It was a feast for the eyes, and a pleasure to handle and wear. Truly a superb piece, that holds its own against the Deepsea. I wouldn't say it is equal to the Deepsea, but its very close in quality and refinement, with a rich history to back it up. Enjoy the pics, I'm loving this piece.
