SIHH is becoming a cloudy memory, but just in time there's yet another Swiss watch show right around the corner that goes by the name of "Basel World" - perhaps you've heard of it? While there will be plenty of big reveals done during the show itself, we're starting to get word of some of the new models ahead of time. One that's grabbed our attention early on, is this new Alpina Startimer that's going by the name, Sunstar.Now, if you're familiar with Alpina, you know that they've got quite the range of aviation watches, stemming from the fact that they supplied watches to military aviators in the first half of the twentieth century. That means it's not much of a leap for them to come up with a new model. While I'm not deeply familiar with others in the Startimer line, I do know that the Sunstar is a sharp-looking piece.As is befitting for an aviator watch, the 44mm case is treated to a satin finish (the better to reduce reflections) and is topped with an AR-coated sapphire crystal. New watch for the collection
TX 400. Features a sapphire crystal and a perpetual calendar. Each movement is powered by a different motor and from what I understand is now labeled "Intelligent Quartz" in the Timex line. It isn't a large watch, but looks very classy, at least imho. The leather strap feels nice, but the clasp system seems cumbersome to me.One really neat feature is the date hand. When the button above the crown is pushed, it swings from the date to the months which line the face of the watch below the hour hashes. The TX doesn't incorporate Indiglo, but instead has luminous hour and minute hands, and the hour hashes glow as well.

Hi everyone.This is my first post. I'm sorry if this subject has been brought up, and beaten to death.I'm an American, about to move to the UK. I'll be working for the military, so I'm under the impression I'll be working under Notice 431: Visiting Forces.I'm looking to pick up a Stainless Steel Batman GMT Master II.I've seen other posts here and on other forums hinting that if a person goes to Heathrow, the AD dealers will give a discount equal to the VAT Discount. (Is this just for Terminal 5, or does this apply to all Terminals)I guess people are hinting that they are getting the discount equal to the VAT, and then they are also filling out the VAT 407 form.So, if I'm reading that right, it's a double discount.This seems to good to be true. I'm assuming this loophole, if it ever existed has closed.Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'd like to know what the truth is.
