Previously on worn&wound we've discussed those watches or watch brands that manage to achieve superb design and quality in a surprisingly / unbelievably affordable price point.? Think Steinhart with their $400, ETA powered pieces, or the $200 Maratac Pilot with a quality automatic and sapphire crystal the size of your head. ?Having spent some time with the $338?Techn¨¦ GosHawk (and previously Sparrowhawk) I am beginning to think that Techn¨¦ deserves a place in that conversation.?The GosHawk pairs unique aviator styling and excellent craftsmanship with a quality Japanese automatic movement and superior components.Case: Bead Blasted Stainless SteelMovement: Miyota 8217 AutomaticDial: BlackLume: C3Lens: Sapphire with AR coatingStrap: “Saddle” Oiled LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 41.4mm x 48.7mmThickness: 12.5mmLug Width: 20mmCrown: Screw downWarranty: 1 YearCaseThe case of the GosHawk is simple and clean, matching an aesthetic seen throughout the watch. Greetings all,I recently inherited an Omega in pretty bad condition. Took it into the sole Toronto Authorized Repair shop and they had to ship it out to Switzerland. The estimate came back at $1175CAD to repair and refinish. The watch is either a:- 1962 SEAMASTER (Reference BA 166.001) (18k Yellow Gold)- 1962 SEAMASTER (Reference BA 165.002) (Gold Plated)- 1968 GENEVE (Reference MD 135.0041) (Gold Plated)The repair shop I took it to noted the caliber as being 2810 but I tried looking it up on the OMEGA site and it didn't seem to exist.I know this is pretty vague - but the watch will come back in pristine shape. It is a keepsake so I do want to get it in working order, but it's REALLY only worth it if the watch is (or may become) within $200-$300 of the price to repair it.Thoughts?
I've been interested in a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope since they first came out several years ago. I recently noticed that Junghans has modified the Max Bill designs for their Meister series adding metal indicies and switching the ¨¹ber-thin bauhaus hands for dauphin hands. This changes the look from a German Bauhaus 1960's to more of a general European 1950's style similar to the retro-50's style seen in the recent Tissot Visodate and Orient 60th Anniversary models. Which dial design would you go for: I'm most interested in the silver/white dials rather than the black dialed versions I avoid silver hands on black dials due to legibility issues. 1) Max Bill Chronoscope dial with date. You Bauhaus ¨¹ber-purists out there may balk at this but I want/need a date feature: 2) Max Bill Chronoscope dial with date and numerals. Not as strikingly minimalist as the first dial, but still Bauhaus. I like how the date window seems to blend in with the numerals and isn't as noticeable as in the
Hello AP watch lovers,We all start our watch addition somewhere and mine has been developing quite fast.I own currently only a Rolex SUb 2 liner 14069 and an Omega Speedmaster that I picture below for wrist reference and would like to enlarge my watch rotation with a different style (considering also a white Daytona but upfront comes the RO).My wrist is around 17cm which equates to 6.75 inches and therefore my preference goes to smaller watches (say max 40 as my sub above).I was eying the RO 14790 blue dial , a 36 with JLC caliber , thinner that the new 37 version, which in the condition that I look for ( full set and not polished or minimal ) is between 10 and 12k - never tried this watch and will most probably not have the a chance to try it before buying.or the new that I tried this weekend 15450 (37 and in house movement and thicker case )in blue dial below:l which has a retail of 17k€.I know most of you will advise to go for 15202 but I strongly believe would be too big for my ta
