Audemars Piguet occupies a very interesting place in the pantheon of modern watchmakers. It is truly independent, with two members of the Audemars family still playing an active role in the manufacture's development. It balances watchmaking of the very highest order – think tourbillons, advanced escapements, and grand complications – with watches immediately recognizable to the average person on the street. And it has remained entrenched on home soil in the small village of Le Brassus, situated right in the heart of the Vallée de Joux. Montblanc has released four new watches as a part of their new Montblanc 1858 Collection: a single-button chronograph in pink gold, and and three versions of a stainless-steel watch with subsidiary seconds. The collection references the heritage of Minerva, which was originally founded in 1858 and purchased by Montblanc in 2006. The Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter (112637) 1 OF 5 2 OF 5 The first watch in the 1858 Collection is the pink-gold, single-button Chronograph Tachymeter made in a limited series of 100 pieces. Inspired by the chronographs made in the 1930s, this watch features a classic but modern 44 mm pink-gold case with rounded bezel. Things in our neighborhood were getting a little crazy and summer is coming to a close so I thought a trip to the North Shore of Minnesota was just what the doctor ordered. Can an ETA 2824 with a Dubois Depraz 9000 complication have a perpetual calendar?
Just curious, saw a Louis Erard, which has a full calendar, advertised as having a perpetual calendar. It has the ETA 2824 with the DD 9000 complication bolted on.I spent about 40 minutes scouring the net and couldn't find any indication that the Dubois Depraz 9000 mechanism is perpetual. Louis Erard's site is pretty much an exercise in futility in terms of finding any detailed description of the mechanisms in their watches, but I would assume, if you offered a perpetual calendar you would scream it from the mountain tops.So anyway, just curious as a local jeweler has a couple of these as well. My guess is that the DD 9000 is akin to the ETA 7751 and just offers a complete calendar. If I'm mistaken, I'd like to read up on it with any links you can provide.Thanks,Bryan
