My first grown-up watch: Speed Master Automatic
I finally bought myself a proper grown-up watch. It has been a good year (became a manager at work, got married, turned 30) and I thought I owed it to myself.I purchased a 1999 Omega Speed Master from Darlor Watch. The service from Darryl is above and beyond. I can't say enough good things about him and look forward to growing my collection with him. I would have loved to have a brand-new watch, but this one is **** near perfect.I am not sure how it is supposed to operate though. It appears that the long second hand stays in the 12 o'clock position at all times, until the chrono is started, then it begins to sweep. The top button starts and stops the chrono and the bottom button reset it.The small dial at 9 o'clock seems to be the second hand and runs all the time. I haven't let it run long enough to determine when the other 2 dials turn.I am really not sure. Anyone have a manual description for me? I will look at it more tomorrow as a full week of 3-year budget projections ha

Breitling Purchase
Breitling wannabe owner and newbe to the forum. LOT's to see here that"s for sure. I've been lurking around for bit trying to get grip on the Breitling watches to try and figure out what I want, and ALMOST ready to buy. I've noticed that some are more desirable/popular than others and would appreciate anyones opinion with respect to the one I"m looking at. It's the Chronomat BO1 SS Antarctica. I believe it is 43.5 mm and I'm just a little concerned it may be to big, me being a sawed off 5'8" 160# guy. Any thoughts, pros or cons with respect to this one? I'm also curious what a fair price for this watch would be. That's about it. Thanks a lot and look forward to getting ed-ju-cated here as well as contribute where I can. Jeff

I am sure that many of the people you work with are aware of your addict...er...hobby. My boss and I have had several discussions surrounding fine timepieces. On occasion, we also get to talk with clients about their watches - if I notice something unique. My box has a Rolex Cellini and enjoys it quite a bit. It is his pride and joy from a watch standpoint.So, one day he mentioned that he had some old watches of his dad's and that he would give them to me. He has no children and preferred that they go to someone who would appreciate them. The topic was discussed and not brought up again. I had forgotten about it and then we met in Miami for a client of ours. My boss produced a ziplock bag with 3 watches.
