Omega Speedmaster (reduced 3510.50.50) Stops When I Remove It
Hi, This is my first post on this forum. I've been searching for hours, on this forum and others, trying to find out what's wrong with my watch and although I've found people with a similar problem I am yet to find a reason.I've had my Omega Speedmaster for over 12 years and it worked great until a few years ago when it started losing significant time, to the point that unless I vigorously shook my wrist every few minutes it would eventually stop. I presumed that it was 'broken' somehow, but not sure how since it's never been subjected to any abuse.Now, I've read dozens of pages about winding Omega watches. Most seem to suggest that it should take about 30 to 40 turns. I've done at least this amount and the problem continues. I was thinking that maybe I've overwound it to the point where I might have damaged something inside, but again many pages seem to suggest that this is almost impossible on a modern Speedmaster.When I do turn the crown it seems to turn relatively easily there is s

More Vintage Questions!
More vintage questions...Well, I recently purchased my first vintage Hamilton, an automatic, and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last. I really don't know to much about the mechanical end of watches, but I like to tinker, and I'd like to learn some basic watch repair. Nothing to crazy, just removing crystals, movements, hands, etc. While I wouldn't touch my already restored vintage auto, there are plenty of cheap vintage Hamiltons out there that I could experiment with and maybe even help resurrect.So where does somebody learn watch repair and where can you get the tools?And who do you guys use for your vintage restoration projects, a local guy or somebody on the net? Is your guy a one-stop shop, where they do they do everything from dial restoration to crystal replacement to fixing the movements, or are they different shops?
