It is not uncommon for us these days to read of a brand celebrating its history, be it 10 years or 100. Oftentimes, that takes the form of a new watch being released that draws inspiration from (or is perhaps just a re-release of) something from back in the archives. On the other hand, brands can go a different direction, as we see with the M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte R. M¨¹hle & Sohn line-up.Now, if you are familiar with the brand, you might know that 2014 marks the 20-year anniversary of the brand being revived by Hans-J¨¹rgen M¨¹hle. Interestingly enough, it is also 145-year anniversary of when the brand was first founded by Robert M¨¹hle. With this unique double-anniversary in the making, M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte wanted to do something special.Rather than just diving into their archives and reproducing something, they created with the R. A good daily AP.
Looking to dip my foot in these waters again. I'm going to be honest, it's a problem (being honest) of mine, I just don't want to wear a Rolex. I'm really enjoying my Omega watches, but I do want something a little bolder. My Yaeger is a keeper, but with no date, it's got something missing. I don't need a date, but I do want one. My concern is the size. I typically stay at 42 or under. Balance is an issue too. I'm thinking standard diver or ceramic with orange. Any guidance or thoughts/ideas would he appreciated.

Scratches on display watches?
I stopped by an Omega dealer to check out the Speedmaster Pro. I had a loupe with me from seeing a used Rolex, and checked out the Speedy. I was surprised to find six scratches--three on the bracelet, and three on the case. Is it safe to assume that this is not normal, and the watch has been handled roughly, or perhaps returned from a previous sale?I'm sure the scratches can be polished out on the brushed finish, but should I have to polish a new watch?

Size matters!
I know that a lot of people don't get Panerai. The company has taken some self-inflicted flak through the odd marketing faux-pas and a sometimes crazy pricing strategy, and I've heard a few people write the brand off on the basis that <em>all</em> of their models are ugly. Well, I'm no fanboy (hmmm... maybe I am, just a little) but I do think I've been very fortunate to have owned the much vaunted Luminor 233, and to still possess its equally sublime Radiomir cousin, the 268. These watches are wonderful, both in terms of the majesty of the three-barrelled, 8 day in-house movements and the very obvious build quality. What I've learned, though, is that for my relatively slim wrists the Radiomir range gives me a more comfortable fit.The 268 is a 45mm watch, and whilst this is mitigated by the Radiomir lug design its still a relatively hefty beast. Flipping
Stop it. Just stop. I'm speaking to those that are regular consumers like myself who are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to buy a premium piece aka hard-to-get piece at an AD for retail.My advice to you if you fall into this category is to not flip the watch. Either pass, or keep. There are unintended consequences of your decision to flip a watch. AD's could and will literally lose the Rolex line. It's happened, it will happen again, and we are responsible if we are part of this problem.There are many, many negative outcomes that may play out as a result of flipping. For what? $5 grand? An easy $5 grand sounds nice, and while that may be on the higher end, it is possible. Looking at the big picture though, it's nothing and it's not worth it.
