After seeing Hannes, John's & Sheldon's custom sapphire case-backs on their Rolex's I decided to pick one up for my steel & gold Yacht-Master. I'd actually been planing to get it for awhile, but always put it off. Well, I finally stopped talkin' & started doin'. So I contacted Thomas & ordered one...After, IMO, a very quick shipping from Germany the caseback was in my hands! Now, start the modifications!First, the new sapphire case-back.First, got to take off the bracelet so the case can fit in the case-vise OK, now let's get that stock case-back off...There it is!! The Rolex 3135 movement! A few shots of the movement since I have the case-back off..OK, watch & new case-back - ready to go on..Let's tighten it down good There!Put the bracelet back on & we're done!!Overall I'm very impressed. It threaded & screwed onto the Rolex caseback perfectly & smoothly. The watch is slightly thicker due to the extra thickness of the sapphire case-back. But tha

I have been agonising over which Patek to go for and have finally reached a decision! Wow, it's been tough!I started off wanting a 5726. Then I decided that the 5764 was more realistically within budget. Then I fell completely for the 5990 which blew my mind, and I decided I'd find the money! But then someone mentioned the 5980, and that's even better!!But...I want my first Patek to be a keeper which means (a) getting one I can afford to keep if things get a little tough, and (b) getting one that suits my small wrists. So, the 5990 and 5980 are out as they are both probably a touch oversized for my wrists. Some will disagree, and of course I could get away with it (I have an AP Diver!) but my personally view is that whilst tool watches can be oversized, I think sports watches should match wrist and general physique size.I love the 5726 and the idea of the annual calendar is appealing. But...the 5712 has suddenly come from nowhere to win the race!! I'm not sure whether it will be the Ste
Psyched to finally be JV'd! The last OEM strap I purchased was a dark brown Riva at the Florence boutique during my honeymoon in 2011. While there, the Panerai rep showed me both the gold and dark grey JV options and while I thought the nubuck alligator was cool, I liked the look of the Riva strap better. Once I returned home and started researching the JV, I was sold on the killer patina photos of the straps after some wrist time. I recently found a gentleman selling an unworn/unmounted JV in the right (standard) size and it was delivered today. I love it. It is a bit more of a muted gold color in person than I expected - despite my photos making it look like every other JV strap I've seen on the Internet - but it was almost immediately comfortable on my wrist and after a lot of aftermarket purchases it's great to have another killer OEM strap for the 112. It's also nice to have a lighter colored, dressier option to break up all the darker leather ammo straps I've been buying lately,
