It’s been a big week for “American Idol’s” Randy Jackson. Not only is “AI” fandom abuzz over his future as a judge on the popular musical competition program, but this week also saw the launch of a new business venture for the famously watch-loving Jackson ¡ª Timepieces by Randy Jackson, a new line of watches (most of them affordably priced at $99 to $499) that will initially be sold on cable TV’s HSN Home Shopping Network. The watches will be produced by Clyde Dunier, Inc. a fourth-generation family-owned business known for its precious metals and gemstones, which has also branched out into watch manufacturing. I finally pulled the trigger.
As the title states, I finally pulled the trigger on an Omega. After many trips back and forth to the AD (there is one conveniently next to my gym) and some rigerous comparisons, I ended up with the Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm (2201.51.00). I originally went in with my eye on the 300M Chronograph, but ended up disliking the way it sat on my wrist. I have a small 6 & 1/4 wrist circumference, which is also the reason I opted for the 42mm over the 45.5mm. Upgrading from an Invicta 8926 CE (the Submariner homage), it is a world of a difference. The weight, feel, and presence of this watch is amazing. I never thought I would purchase it at Tourneau as they are typically overpriced, but when I walked in ready to buy the salesmen I had been dealing with was able to get me out the door for the same cost as I was able to located on the Internet. Coming to the end of the year again. Have not been posting much, but I do check in. Can't say I've bought anything as I am kinda satisfied with where I am with watches right now. Why does it seem that Audmars Piguet are more expensive than Rolex?
Why are AP's ridiculously more expensive than Rolex?? Is it the hip hop/celebrity status that has made AP what it is? Will the popularity of AP drop? I'll always be a Rolex man, but when I was in Vegas last weekend. I couldn't believe the prices at the AP store in the Crystal's mall.
