Invicta 9224 wrist watches news:
With the 2013 movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby book being released shortly, we wanted to take a look at some of the best wrist watches from the roaring 20s. The 1920s, in a sense, was the first real decade of the wrist watch. It was when both men and women started to adapt wrist watches over pocket watches. Some of the best brands that make watches today were around back then, and of course the dominant design ethos of art deco was a major influence of watch design. In The Great Gatsby, author F. Scott Fitzgerald focuses on the ultra-wealthy, who would have been keen to adopt the latest high-end trends and styles. The end of World War I created a shift in the minds of many men who originally saw wrist watches as feminine. Soldiers from the war often adapted pocket watches with lugs so that they could be strapped to their wrist. This was not the birth of the wrist watch, but helped cement their manliness in mainstream culture. 1920s era timepieces were quite bold in their designs com
My collection has remained pretty stable the past year or so. But of course, I'm always thinking (scheming?) about the next one. In the short term, I think I'd like to pick up a "beater" 1680 Submariner to restore. I've got a really sweet refinished/restored red Submariner dial that really looks outstanding as a "daily driver." It has next to no collector's value, but it also looks pristine (snow white markers, etc.) and you can wear it without worrying about damaging it. I do miss having and wearing a red Sub:I've also been giving thought to selling my vintage DJ, and picking up a more contemporary example. Came close to pulling the trigger on one last year, but couldn't come together on the numbers. Then there's the grail Day Date. Will this be the year? That will depend on the above two watches. How about you?
Can anybody give me any insight to Aristo watches, particularly the Aristo 4H102/103?Thanks for any info!
I realize that my Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116523 with in-house 4130 movement has an exceptional power reserve at 72 hours, and no date function; however, I still like to keep it on a watch winder when not being worn. The issue is this: I want to be certain that I am setting the wind-cycle to the correct direction (i.e. CCW, CW or bi-directional) for this particular movement. The Orbita Winder database indicates the required winding direction for the 4130 movement, as CW. Posts on various watch forums indicate that for the 4130 movement, winders can be set bi-directionally. In fact, some forum posts indicate that the Orbita database is plainly wrong in stating the required setting for the 4130 as CW. The conflicting information is confusing, and I suspect that it does indeed matter what direction is selected for the winding cycle for a particular movement. I would normally communicate on the subject directly with the movement source i.e. Rolex; however, there is no contact feature at R
I wore a 93160 for years and years and have nothing bad to say about them...Yes yes I know, many people didn't like them...Thought them cheap, flimsy etc etc etc...Not me...I always thought them to be just fine...But I must say, the bracelet on my DeepSea is a marvel...Why Rolex doesn't use this rascal on all their watches is a mystery to me...
