Hey Guys,Just picked up this unique little gem from the house of Citizen, my dozenth Citi! Its the BT0070-01A, a square dressy/sporty watch with perpetual calender, not very useful 24hr subdial and not much else. This watch is all about the details though, with some unusual design touches such as the textured crown and pushers, the textured dial with huge date, 3D markers and numerals and the gorgeous case with some nice curves and mix of brushed and polished areas. The black strap is beautifully supple, thickly padded and has a nice contrast red stitch that complements the dial very nicely. From what i can gather this beauty was released into the Euro markets but is available sparingly from some usual Asian suspects. As soon as i saw it, i knew it had to come home and as usual i have no dissapointment...the quality, as you can see, is exceptional!cheers.
When buying a new watch do you first decide on a model and then shop for it?Or do you take a look at what's available and see what you like?At any given time I could find at least a dozen watches I like. While shopping around I will look at sales. I will check the bay and vintage dealers to see what's available. If the urge is strong enough I'll buy it. If I can wait until the next one, I wait.
This just in - a 1953 LeCoultre Powermatic:I forgot how hard it is to shoot black dials under crystals with no AR coating. Anyway, it's the original black dial and it's in pretty good shape. This was the first automatic watch with a power reserve when it was released in the late 40's. And of course, it's a 14ct case because I love gold!Black dialed vintage watches are my weakness, especially when they're bumpers.
We don't hear much about the two tone BB's rarely do I recall ever seeing one listed for sale here on the forum either. I can't put my finger on why but here lately they are peaking my interest more and more. I am sure they fall in third place to many behind the black or blue Subs depending on ones tastes. I've never been a huge fan of the blue Sub. Must admit the black two tone Sub is nice but I can't see myself wearing it over my SS Subc. The Black Bay however as similar as it is or isnt has a totally different appeal to me. Anyone else around here feel the same about the TT Black Bays? It might just be next on my list. You can save the; its only gold capped and its only for folks who can't afford a real Rolex comments. I've got two precious metal pieces in my collection along with one I gave my wife for Christmas.
