Patrizzi & Co. opened the 2010 season on March 9 in New York City. Sales exceeded $2 million and two-thirds of the 161 lots sold. The top price of $250,000 was paid for a 1929 gold and nephrite Cartier Comet table clock featuring grande sonnerie chimes¡ªthe most complicated mechanism ever made by the company. A Patek Philippe Celestial ref. 5102 wristwatch brought $180,000, and a platinum Louis Cartier Art D¨¦co Tank watch produced in 1929 set a world record at $135,000 – well above the presale estimate. In addition to the catalog auction, Patrizzi & Co hosted its second silent sale with three-day viewings in Hong Kong and New York City. Thirty-nine pieces were sold for a total of more than $110,000. I really like the way this forum is coming up, and was really excited when GLADIATOR told me to post some info about my Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic, as a modern beginners' watch.Hamilton is a brand with a lot of history (which mostly being Americans, majority of you will know much better than me) and the Jazzmaster line is the one consisting of dress watches. The watch has the following noteworthy features-Sapphire crystal- mine doesn't have a scratch yet and I sure do hope it stays that way.Stainless steel case- I prefer SS to gold plated which is too much bling imoTransparent caseback- The caseback is also Sapphire crystal.ETA-2824-2 movement- It is a 25 jewel self winding ( bi-directional) movement which does duty on lots of watches and has proved itself as a very reliable and durable workhorse movement. Hey guys !I need your assistance.Does anybody happen to know when Elgin printed a material catalog after the 1915 edition?I am looking for the VERY NEXT material catalog printed after 1915 and I don't know the exact year in which this happened.They did not print these books every year.My best guess is that this book came out somewhere around 1918 -1920 maybe.This is probably going to be a small book and not one of the big three ring binder sorts.I hope the next edition after the 1915 book still shows dials that were available.I know that later books did not have the dial pictures.Thanks in advance ! ! !
