Another example from the vault not part of my regular wardrobe because it is too mint to risk very often. There are quite a few Curvexes on Ebay, but most are modern recreations. When it comes to an early Curvex, people normally look for long, curved, solid gold, with the original 311 or slightly later 330 movement. Some of the most desirable and earliest cases from 1936 are not marked as made by Curvex or with the typical Gruen numerical nomenclature commonly found on later Gruen cases.. The Curvex Ceneral was introduced for Christmas 1936. My example has a solid 14K case made by Katz and Ogush, a New York jewelry firm who made some high end gold and platinum cases for Gruen. Their "mark" is a stylized K&O. (It's the same firm that eventual Gruen President Benjamin Katz would come from.) It has the 311 movement and the case is 48mm long when measured straight from lug tip to lug tip MUCH longer when measured around the huge curve of the case. (Over 60mm, I think.) Sa

Need help with a Vintage Marine Chronometer - no joy posting in the Omega Forum
We found an Omega Marine Chronometer in going through my Father-in-Law��s things this weekend. He is a veteran of the Coast guard and is in a nursing home now. As you can see in the attached picture, he has replaced the original band and the gold serial number plate as been lost. It is not running, but the housing does not appear to be compromised or damaged.I would appreciate any thoughts on the following before I send it in to Omega,��1) Can it be fully restored?2) How much (approx.) it would cost �C for the band, serial number plate, possibly crystal and bezel?3) Anyone know where to find an original (model 1200?) band? Have struck out online.3) Estimated value (both before and after restoration).I understand that it's a somewhat rare and special watch, I would just like some more information and an idea of it��s true value before we start the process. I recently saw the 5204R at an AD, although I didn't get a chance to try it on the wrist due to time constraints.What are your thoughts on this watch? I have tried on the 5204P white and black dials before and although the RG looks nice on the 5270, it didn't seem as warm on the 5204. Maybe it is something to get used to as the 5204R is such a new watch.Here is a stock photo from the Patek website. When I saw the watch in person behind the glass display it didn't stand out as much as the stock photo.
