Jacob & Co. JC-32rg wrist watches news:
As my passion for early watches continues, I picked up my fourth 'offset' crown - this one using a Lepine movement with crown at 1.30.Its an early 1916 ELGIN Trench Watch with Offset CrownExcellent overall condition. This watch numbers among the earliest of American wristwatches. Movement serial number 19150974 dating it to 1916Fitted with a correct period handmade black leather Saddlers 2 piece band, In 1918 all bands were handmade!WW1 era Elgin 0 size ¡°trench watch¡°, 15 jewel, ¡®offset crown. Case by ¡°Philadelphia Watch Case Co¡± with wire lugs, designed just for the band fitted. This is one of the very earliest Philadelphia offset cases, and strangely there is NO SERIAL NUMBER to the case - quite unusual i think?.Here You go - lovely condition, perfect white enamel dial with outer red seconds track.Look at the case - NO Serial Number - Unusual? Some of my other 'offsets' - 3 + 1 = 4ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS - Watch and Pictures: Mark - TrenchwatchRestorations
do the hamiltons have any good way of identifying if they are fake or not? anything to look for when buying online? would a fake come with papers, boxes, etc? i don't mind buying things online and obviously the whole 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is' mindset is always there. but when i stumble across a site like this: [URL DELETED BY BOSCOE - REASON: WTF DOES NOT PROMOTE FAKE WATCHES IN ANY WAY. ALSO WE ONLY ALLOW LINKS TO SPONSORS' SALES SITES] it's kind of disturbing.
Hey guys I'm in a dilemma on how to wear my OM. Currently I have the SS strap on a little snug so I wear my watch above the bone in my wrist that is like a dome which prevents it from sliding down to my hand. I like this because I can flex and move my wrist around without the watch getting in the way. However, in order to do this the strap has to be a little tight so it won't slide pass my wrist bone down to my hand. I've been debating whether to re-size the bracelet or not to make it larger so it can slide on my wrist more freely but am not sure I will like it sliding against my hand and getting in the way when I flex my wrist around. So after that long paragraph I would like to know how my fellow WTF members like to wear their watches. Loose, so it can slide freely up and down your wrist, or a more snug fit so it doesn't move around too much? Or maybe somewhere in between?! I look forward to everybody's replies and opinions!
Feels like an Oris day...
I'm relatively new to Omegas and I was completely unaware of this model until today. I was at my AD and checking out their preowned collection. This watch immediately caught my attention and I can't even describe how cool I think this dial is. If anyone has a chance to check this out, I'd recommend trying it on. I believe it's referred to as the Aventurine dial. Here is the wristshot I took.
