Jacob & Co. 646 wrist watches news:
2011 might be the "Astro" year for Cartier. Last year's Cartier Rotonde Astrotourbillon was such a hit that 2011 will have at least two new "Astro" watches. One will be the Calibre Astrotourbillon (with the Rotonde's existing movement), while this one is something totally different. The "Astroregulateur" (Astroregulator) has an escapement that is connected to the automatic rotor - that is mounted on the front of the dial. This concept is really confusing if you don't see it in action. Thankfully, there is a short video by SJX of the Purists on YouTube that we can check out that confirms what I assumed about how the movement worked. All of this is part of Cartier not letting down the fight in terms of showing the world how much they have to offer the watch nerd - as well as the style lover. The Astroregulator has an escapement and subsidiary seconds dial that spins freely with the rotor. The seconds hand still goes around the dial each minute, but the dial itself is spins around. Accordin
When we were over in Schaffhausen filming the currently on-going series "A Man's Guide To Buying A Watch" with IWC, they were gracious enough to let us into their absolutely awesome museum. Inside, we found some of the earliest IWC watches on record, and all of the classics pieces from the brand's superb history, including many that act as the inspiration for today's collection - think original Portuguese pieces from 1939, 1950s MKXI pilot's watches, late 60s Aquatimers, and the original Genta-designed Ingenieur SL. Take a look below and revel in the vintage IWC awesomeness, and if you happen to make it to Schaffhausen, we HIGHLY recommend you pay a visit. And, just so you know, Schaffhausen is a quick (and beautiful) train ride from Zurich. 2 OF 37 3 OF 37 4 OF 37
I am in need of help with a repair that was done recently on an Omega Constellation watch of my grandfathers. This watch is very important to me, as my grandfather was a Marine, as I am, and it is the only thing of his I own. Before I went on a deployment, I had went in and scheduled an appointment for a reconditioning and crystal replacement. They (The Jewelers) had said they would send it to Omega and let them do the work. I had specified I wanted only original Omega parts, if any were to be replaced, and that I wanted the watch exactly as it was. I was concerned, as I have heard bad things about other servicemen getting screwed over by these kinds of situations. Anyway long story short, I got home and saw that they had replaced the silver band with a black leather band, Which I had specifically told them DO NOT REPLACE THE BAND! They said the watch was worth over 2800 dollars, which that i do not know. I am concerned about the repair man that they used, I called and they had said th
When I was lent the Navitimer 01 Limited Edition to review I was guilty of being no more excited about getting my hands on this very rare and collectable watch than any other high end wrist watch. That is to say that I was, of course, excited but not to the extent that I would have been if I had realised what I was actually being lent to produce this review. I confess I was a little naive when the Navitimer 01 was announced. I was incredibly interested at the news, last year, that a Limited Edition Navitimer was going to be released with Breitling’s new in-house movement, the Calibre 01, but was, ultimately, a little disappointed when I first saw the press photos of the Navitimer 01 and heard the recommended retail price of ¡ê6000. I was left thinking “Is that it?”. The most important movement in Breitling’s long and illustrious history and they take a standard Navitimer and change the seconds hand and date display colours. However, I now sit here with this extra
