So, do you consider your watches "Jewelery" or "Wrist Instruments"?
I have a friend who is a fine craftsman, his craft being art jewelery, and he and I were having a conversation about watches, and what they are intended to do, or portray. He is a jeweler as I said, and he thinks spending more than 20 bucks on a watch is silly! Yet he sells pieces of jewelery for thousands of dollars.My watches are for the most part, functional. I love watches that look mechanical, or look like they have an defined purpose ie: divers, pilot watches. I also love the fact that Im wearing a marvel of micro engineering. Plus I think its cool to indulge in the idea that I am wearing a watch that COULD be submerged 1000 meters and still function. Or a watch designed to calculate airspeed. Obviously Ill never do either, but its almost like taking part in a fantasy. Ill probably never fly a plane, or dive like Cousteau, but I can wear the same watches! Good place to buy a strap for Vintage Omega?
Hey Guys, I have a 1950's Omega Seamaster Bumper Automatic that is getting serviced as we speak. It was still running but slow by more than 20 seconds a day (and also periodically just died even while wearing). I imagine it may have not been serviced for more than 30 years. Since the watch will (hopefully) be running like new when i get it back I was thinking of getting a nice new strap. It is currently on a brown Alligator strap and I would like to go less dressy.
