La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the Swiss Jura, is regarded as the cradle of fine watchmaking, but it is also the birthplace of Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, known more widely as Le Corbusier, one of the titans of modern architecture and design. Now, Girard-Perregaux, a watch brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and long associated with Le Corbusier’s estate, has released a trilogy of watches with designs based on his work.The Girard-Perregaux Le Corbusier Trilogy pays tribute to the three cities most associated with the artist’s career: La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he spent his formative years and trained as a sculptor and engraver at the town’s School of Art; Paris, where he adopted his nom d’artiste and introduced the public to his pioneering furniture designs; and Marseille, where he did his most important late architectural work in his signature medium, reinforced concrete. Hamilton Map Measuring Device auction
I hope this is appropriate to post here, but I thought there might be some interest in this, and people here might not look at GunBroker much:Vintage 1940 Hamilton Model 331 Map Measurer & Box : WW1 & WW2 Collectibles at GunBroker(I have no connection with this auction in any way.) Is it something Hamilton made to use surplus capacity in the Depression, or is it something they made for the Army in WWII?

I got the notice that my local authorized dealer, KLARLUND of Copenhagen, has ALL the new Panerai watches with Cal. 900X on exhibition!Naturally, I went there as soon as I could and brought my camera! Klarlund always has very knowledgeable and friendly staff, so I knew I was in for a treat! None of the watches were for sale, but it was a real pleasure to be able to have a closer look at those exquisite watches! Opinions on the Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro:
Good Morning Gentlemen, I was out doing a bit of watch shopping this weekend and became rather fond of the Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro. I'm giving this piece serious consideration for my next purchase, but with a price tag of $1,500 it's looking like the soonest I may be able to pick this up is early or mid 2011. It's attractive to me because it's an "auto" and it has a more sophisticated and professional look about it. I'm curious to know what you all think or know about the model and maker...
