Jaeger LeCoultre 139.24.20 wrist watches news:
The popularity of ‘heritage’ models from established watch manufactures is still going strong this year at Baselworld 2016, and Alpina has joined the fray with a strong entry. In 1967 Alpina produced an EPSA Super Compressor cased diver called the Alpina 10. This was one of many Super Compressor divers made during that era, and the Alpina 10 is a rare and desirable model for collectors these days. Now nearly 50 years later, Alpina has launched the Seastrong Diver Heritage, and modern interpretation of that classic Alpina 10. Much like Longines did with the Legend Diver, Alpina has taken their vintage classic and given it a modern update. The Seastrong Diver Heritage is a sleek and understated diver. The stainless steel case is 42mm wide and 12.3mm thick and will have a sapphire BOX crystal, with a water resistance of 30 bar or 1000ft. This makes it much larger than the original, but as wrist shots show, it fits very nicely, and wears a bit smaller than expected. The caseback
I am just curious about the reasons of others around here. What was it for you and why do you collect Hamiltons? For me it was a kind of meandering around until I became a collector of vintage Hamiltons. I was always fascinated by those old movies of the socalled Golden Era and the style of certain things in the twenties and thirties. I also devoured the books from people like Raymond Chandler and the like. Well and then I am fascinated in general by the style and art of the first half of the twentieth century, being it art noveau, art deco and what's called Bauhaus (I was born in Weimar and came into contact with the latter during my childhood).Besides that I am a big fan of the fashion of that time and what could be better thant to wear the right watches for it. But that only got me into some light interest into looking what watches were made then. What me really brought to collecting them was something completly different. I am maybe the only one who became interested in this hobby b
Received this today, couldn't be happier, the heft feels great and the finish is superb! Thanks guys for the pointers and photos!

I couldn't bond with my black dial Daytona. I wore it once and the legibility was an issue. As soon as I saw it I wasn't in love like I was with the rest of the collection, and that's when I knew it wasn't for me. I wish I could have tried it on before, but you know the story with that, no one has any to try.So..the fun money is back. What would you get for around $20k? Open to PP, AP and Rolex. I may get a white 500c, I knew all along I would like it better.Resale is important to me. I don't want to take a bath on it should I want to ditch it.Edit: decided to hold off for a bit. Gonna wait for something that really gets my attention; maybe Basel.
