Typically, when a watch arrives, I know exactly what to expect. I open the USPS, FEDEX, UPS, etc… package open and find, as advertised on a website or press release, the watch I am to review or examine. Well, the Aevig Valkyr was a watch I had only seen in a few quick shots on instagram, but knowing the brand and liking what I saw, I was eager for them to arrive. Well, when I opened the box, I am pretty certain I let out an audible gasp of delight as the two watches inside were just so cool.They were what I expected and a lot more. It's not that they are perfect in every way, not at all. They just were so fun and different, with a look that was immediately appealing. I strapped on one and it clicked. The funky case design, with it's 70's inspired lines, the use of muted colors and the sporty dial just hit some spot I'm not even sure I knew I had. Has anyone ever heard of a Tropicalized watch case used by Bulova and Waltham during WWII?Is there a difference between a Parkerized case and a Tropicalized case?If so, what is the difference?Were Parkerized cases used during WWII?

SS Sky-Dweller Date Change
So I was lucky enough to purchase the SS Sky-D a few weeks back - not in my first choice of blue but gorgeous all the same (white).Now I¡¯m not really a night owl but did find myself awake one night just before midnight and so decided to watch the date change ¡®within a few milliseconds of midnight¡¯ as per the Rolex website.Well I waited with baited breathe but as midnight passed I thought the watch must be set 12 hours out, and then some 40 seconds later, sure enough the date changed. I¡¯ve replicated this Many times by adjusting the time to just before midnight but alas the date change has been between the said 40 secs and 2 minutes!Now this wasn¡¯t a major deal given that I am usually sound asleep at this time, however, I was somewhat bemused to see an Instagram post from our beloved manufacturer illustrating this remarkable feat at the stroke of midnight.I decided to give my AD a call regarding this and he said he would discuss with Rolex and get back to me.I received a call the follow
