- Can't beat this watch for the price. It is lovely, the pictures don't do it justice. You can wear it with casual or dressy outfits. Also, because it is a bracelet type watch it looks more like jewelry. It is very well made. I have received several compliments about it.

Review of Two Straps From Kain HeritageBy: John B. Holbrook, II11/16/2011
I found this from EL's bossman at another site. Very informative:There is indeed a visual way to tell a basic movement apart from one of a higher level. It is usually the decoration. 2824s that come in the ¨¦labor¨¦, Top and Chronom¨¨tre versions have routinely factory decorated rotors and bridges. There are many different levels of decorations from the ETA-factory in what we call 'd¨¦corations traditionnels'. The Standard version lacking these features.High level watch companies usually use at least the ¨¦labor¨¦ version most of them reverting to the Top execution. The high-enders usually bring in their own decorations. Much like we do on our Claro-SEMAG movement.Marketing oriented brands focus on the entry level executions of the 2824. Most often for price reasons. However, even a Standard execution movement can be brought up to ¨¦labor¨¦ or Top level by changing the required compo

Hi all, first time posting in the PP forum. My AD just called and offered me the opportunity to buy a brand new, sealed, 5711J-001...Being a discontinued, considered rare reference, how much do you guys think it is worth? Is this reference worth investing?I think it is a wonderful reference, yellow gold, silver dial, brown leather strap...My doubt is really about the fair price to pay, because i didn¡¯t find a single new/unworn/stickers on piece in the internet for price comparison...
Hi Guys, This is my first post on this forum. I have always admired and wanted one of two Patek's but pulling the trigger was difficult as they all were double what my first home cost when I got married in 1969!! Yes, I am a 65 year old man with about 45 watches but no Pateks. Last week I was at my local AD's and looking over his substantial assortment in the case and the owner looked at me and asked if I was ready to spring for one? He took out of the safe a 5980/1a-001 that was unworn. One of his regular watch fanatics had bought it a year ago and never worn it but decided he was interetsed in something less casual. I stood at the counter and held it, looked at it and said how much? He gave me a price I could not refuse so I wrote the check and walked out with it in the box safe and sound. The next hurdle was getting it into the house without seeing Mt. Vesuvious erupt! I kept it in the office safe over the weekend. On Sunday I packed up about 20 watches to post for sale and h
