Omega Unveils its First 2016 Olympics Watch, the Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016”
The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are still two years away. However, Omega, which will be the Games’ official timekeeper for the 27th time, has already introduced its first limited-edition watch celebrating the Rio Games: the Omega Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016,” a chronograph watch with an in-house, co-axial movement.This special edition of the Omega Speedmaster Mark II watch ¡ª released by Omega at this year’s Baselworld watch fair and inspired by a vintage Omega Speedmaster model from 1969 ¡ª has a distinctive barrel-shaped case made of polished and brushed stainless steel. Ladoire RGT (Roller Guardian Time) GMT Watch
Ladoire is a new Swiss watch makers with an interesting timepiece called the RGT. That is supposed to stand for "Roller Guardian Time," which makes no sense to me, but I will just smooth past that. The watch is unique as a regulator. I think maybe they missed the point of what a regulator watch is supposed to be, as the minute dial is really small, but that is OK. Interestingly enough, on this watch, the major dial along with the biggest hand is dedicated to a second timezone indicator (the GMT hand). If that watch reminds you of Hautlence and MCT watches, that is because they share some of the same engineering DNA.OK, so lets move away from titles and description to focus on the interesting movement and design. Bovet Saguaro Sportster Meteorite Watches
This is one of those watches that I have been seeing in magazine advertisements for a while, slowly determining whether it was just a fascinating design that would get old, or a really lasting good design. I've decided that that the Bovet Sportster is an awesome watch that fits perfectly into the definition of what a luxury sports watch should be.?? I know, a departure from "I am not sure if I really like it," but this appreciation hit like a lingering aftertaste. First, the watch is elegant. Yes, it is a strong and sporty looking watch, but it isn't wildly designed with a busy array of elements on the face shoved in to make it looked interesting. It uses a clever bull-head style 46mm wide case, with a top lug structure that wraps nicely around the crown, but if moved allows for easy operation of the screw down crown. Dial variations or error on Submariner Ceramic?
Does anyone owning or familiar with the new Ceramic Submariners notice that on some dials the 1000ft=300m print varies? The = sign is not centered and slightly to the left (closer to "1000ft") on some watches while it's centered on others. Does anyone know what's up with these dial variations? I thought quality control at Rolex was world renowned. Either this was an error or it was intentional. Wondering if anyone knows?See these photos for examples.
