Maurice Lacroix PT6118-SS001-330 wrist watches news:
Hi guys. Newbee here.I've enjoyed reading this section of WTF and learned a lot about omegas. I have a question regarding the gold platings, I don't know if I missed it in the omega threads but it seems that I haven't found much threads about constellations and gold platings.I'm planning to buy my first and my wife's first omega as well. My wife is eyeing the constellation 1371.71.00, I have noticed from amazon that they described the said watch as gold plated. (I'm not actually planning to buy it on amazon its just my reference.) omega.ch/index.php?id=139&no_cache=1Do you guys have any knowledge/experience on this gold plating that omega has on their watches? How long will this gold plating stay if it's being used every in the office (no outdoor/sports activities - swimming, jogging and etc)? Is this a practical choice or should we rather go for the stainless steel? The pricetag of this watch in our country's AD is equivalent to 2100+usd. I wouldn't want to shell out this muc
...and this was decided after a few days of rotating timepieces. For some reason, the dial on the Aquanaut simply trumps all the other watches in my meagre collection. A quick glance in varying light conditions gives me a clear readout. Maybe it's the arabic, or the fat hands or even the shape of the dial, I don't know yet.The other watches in the rotation recently were:Rolex Submariner DateRolex Explorer II Blanc (not too bad this one)FP Journe Chronometre Souverain (good legibility on a classic dial)Patek 5296GMaybe I'll go make some side by side pics for comparison
Remember this poor thing? It was the first project watch I bought, and more "before" pics are in this thread:Project Watch Club: JLC reference 2285Well, I got a phone call today from Laura at the Texas facility that the watch is finished and looks like this:I'd say they did a freakin' awesome job! The only thing I see that doesn't look exactly like the original dial is the "T" on either side of the SWISS MADE. I guess I'll have to check if there is any lume on it, but that doesn't bother me anyhow. If it looks that good in a crappy photo, I can't imagine what it will look like in person! I'm a happy WIS again. Only one thing - it's 2 months early so I had to hold up bidding on a couple vintage watches on eBay to divert the funds. Oh well, there's always more Longines and Omegas around. Rob, Steve, and everyone else who shared there thoughts on the dial work: thanks, and I'm ridiculously tickled that I had them redo the dial as original with the crosshairs intact. As nice as th
As some of you saw earlier this week it was a long day Wednesday waiting for fedex to arrive with my new jumbo. It barely fit so ordered an extra link...managed to order direct from Clearwater just before cutoff and they close for rest of year. What luck! Or so I thought.Arrives today and it doesn't fit in the bracelet. Son of a ... So much for wearing over the holidays since I now have to wait until January 5th to address it Anyway thanks for reading my whining. Had to share with an audience that may understand. ..my wife thought it was funny. Took a few snaps to share:
