Michele MWW12P000003 wrist watches news:
.....You all know what this means, right? :)
Gentlemen, I have finally given up any resistence from buying an Omega Seamaster pro. I've been eyeing this watch since Golden eye . So after weeks of contemplating between new or pre-owned, I have now come to the decision to buy a new one (mainly for warranty and peace of mind) Now another dilemna - quartz or auto? I intend this to be my regular watch, and does not intend to buy for investment or collection. So Im leaning towards the quartz because it is around usd800 cheaper (I live in the Philippines) BUT my friend keeps telling me that the sophistication of an automatic watch makes the price all worth itSo before I take the plunge, it would really help to know what you guys think. Your opinions will be highly appreciated. TIA!
In honor of our new member, HamiltonElectric, here are some tidbits upon which he may comment. . ."The 500 series watch had a moving coil and contact control system. The coil is fixed on the balance, and an electric current flows in the magnetic field, producing an electromagnetic force. At the moment the magnetic field reached the right and left side of the coil, the contact spring is closed by a small pin on the balance. Thus, electric current through the coil is receive an impulse. . . The basic principle is the same for electric motors."Source: Collecting Watches by Shugart and Hanson
Hello Bill from IL here, about 6 yrs ago I started my WIS journy with the 8926,since then I have come to value & appreciate auto movt more than quartz, thinking that quartz has no soul etcWell my recent purchase of a Citizen ATOMIC TI SkyHawk has got me re-appreciating this very fine QUARTZ watch: 1) Its ALLWAYS accurate, no need to adjust it 2) No Need to keep in in a winder 3) No Battery to Change 4) Its ALL TI, so its light yet strong. 5) LED back light Give all this I have had a new reawakening to ATOMIC Quartz watches, I mean most of the reasons why us WIS's buy a watch is not logic, but pure emotion, not saying that this is wrong, but if you compare this Citizem ATOMIC Skyhawk compared to any other watch it really is amazing & a great value that puts the Swiss to shame! Please note I still love & will wear my autos but this watch has give me somethings to think about, Best Rgds Bill
I checked that watch is not stolen but papers were misplaced by original owner.I know I can get archive papers next year (after 5 years) but would you buy one without papers - assuming there is a $10-$15k discount on the price (from what a normal complete PP 5970p would cost).watch is still in original seal from Patek....thanks in advance!
