Went to AD and got an Anchor
My AD called me today to let me know he got a Milgauss finally. He got a black one, I am holding out for the green crystal. I was very excited to finally see one in person. The watch is so nice.........To my surprise he had something for me. As some of you read my AD got robbed at gun point 3 weeks ago. Rolex required him to send back all of the boxes. While going through them he found one that had the Anchor, 1000 Ft..etc that came when you bought a Sub. As most of you know they stopped doing that awhile back. This one is in the original package, never opened. Since I own 2 sub's I have always wanted one, but didn't want to pay for it. I bought my first one in 2004, which is right when they stopped including them.To say the least I was very happy about it. That is the kind of AD that I like doing my buisness with.

Are the main parts within one series of grades fully interchangeable?
I am wondering about that, since I haven't enough spare parts right now at hand for every type of 987 grades. My problem is that one of my 987-F has a broken minute/center wheel (what's it called, i mean the cog wheel for the minutes). And all I have are some 987A grades for parts. So I am not sure if the parts of them are really interchangeable. Does some of the experts here know if they are? My watchmaker does not have another 987F at hand and I said I look into my box and bring one to him from those I already have. I always thought I have there an old 987F lying around too.

Quartz is not the devil!
O.K., this probably could be placed in the general category, but since it started because of my "ETA Quartz?" posting inquiring about the details of said movements, and with Hamilton watches in mind, I'm putting it here. If the moderator feels it should be moved, I will certainly defer to greater wisdom.That said, here's my diatribe...Most of the Hamilton quartz watches descriptions say "ETA Swiss Quartz", while other watch brand descriptions just say "Swiss Quartz". But, I think there are a lot of people out there, certainly anyone who frequents a watch site like this one, that would love to see more information about the quartz movements that are in the watches they are considering, or even some of the ones they own.Besides satisfying our interest in the mechanistic aspect of the watch, it really helps dispel some common misconceptions about quartz movements that have led to some our prejudices against them.Think about it. Has anyone noticed the amount of advertising banners at the top of the page has decreased dramatically? Greg & John took your suggestions seriously. I don't know about you, but the forum runs much faster between page loads for me now.
