Orient ¨C mechanical magnitude Here is a watchmaking quiz for you - which company has produced more than 80 million mechanical watches in-house since the 1950s? Give up? The Orient Watch Company from Japan. February 18, 2008 By Sophie Furley The origin of Orient dates back to 1901 when Shogoro Yoshida opened a wholesale shop of watches in Ueno, one of the commercial districts in downtown Tokyo. The wristwatch manufacturing company was founded later, in the 1950s, and has been producing watches non-stop ever since. The Orient name may not be as well known as some of the other Japanese watch giants, but with some dramatic new models, the stability of over half a century of history and a reputation for offering excellent value for money, the company has everything to make itself heard in the international brand arena. Orient manufactures and distributes more than two million watches a year, over one million of which are mechanical watches with in-house movements. The latest figures from th
Does anyone have any thoughts about this Perry up for auction from a private seller on e-bay?Hamilton 2 Tone Gold 1933 Perry Tonneau Barrel Watch - eBay (item 330481294594 end time Oct-12-10 17:43:37 PDT)Photo's show a restored case with a white gold-filled bezel and green gold-filled case. I finally picked up my SMP 300M today!I have to say, without the manager present the crew at the Manchester, NH Jared store are a bunch of...uh...provide less than excellent service. I'm going to have to go back because they gave me the box for a Planet Ocean (PO embossed cleaning cloth, 3 year Co-Axial warranty hang tag, and COSC Hang tag, oh and wrong serial number hang tag...) and my warranty card isn't filled out. Ugh.That said, I've been staring at my wrist since I picked it up around 3:30 this afternoon!I swear...I'm not trying to be James Bond...And the 300M has some of the nicest lume that I've encountered thus far (with the exception of Luminox) - it's a beautiful color and just looks great in general. I love the way that the skeleton hands look in the dark. Thanks for looking!
