Popular 1950s"budget", drug store and entry-level watches?
Setting my focus on 1950s watches for the time being (mainly so I don't go OCD crazy trying to buy one of everything ever produced in every time period lol!)I was just curious, besides the obvious Timex, what other brands were the big players in terms of budget and entry level watches in the early to mid 1950s? I know some of the big names had specific lines focused on entry level models like Hamiltons "Illinois" line from 53-55, Elgins Wadsworth, etc, but what about the brands beneath even those? I know of a few names like Westclox, Hallmark, Oris etc, but what are some of the other really common ones that might have been seen on many wrists back then? What was the equivalent of today's Fossils and Casios? As popular as Hamilton, Bulova and Elgins main models are in the collecting world today, not everyone in 1952 had today's equivalent of close to a grand to spend on a watch. i post the question here because i've been looking for my 2nd AP watch for a while (after purchased 15300). and decided to get AP ROO Ginza Forged Carbon when i have enough funds (even i haven't had a chance to try it on yet) . So now it's time . but stopped by PP local AD this morning and tried on a 5726 on the bracelet and felt in love right away . Never liked PP before because geneve letters on the dial . But the weight, the finish, and the dial are everything i need and love. So it changed my mind . But i do love to own my first too forged carbon case as well .......So money is issue , please help to pick one.Ginza Forged Carbon or 5726.

Advice on Seamaster Pro Professional Quartz
So I picked-up a Seamaster Pro Quartz full size without the bracelet and I am having a heck of a time finding a strap that looks good with the blue. I have an opportunity to pick-up an OEM bracelet for about $300. That puts me into the watch like $1400 which I think would be tough to make back if I sold the watch. Question is: do I drop the $300 or keep trying blue straps to see what works? I just bought a Hirsch natural rubber in blue used and that is incoming. What a dilemma!

My 5396G has stopped!
After getting back from a weekend trip I was looking forward to wearing my 5396G. After I finished advancing the time to get caught up, I pushed in the crown so I could wind it. It got stuck in a strange halfway position before getting pushed in and the hands jumped when it did. The watch no longer functions and now makes a strange noise when winding. I purchased it new in December of 2014 from an AD who I am seeing on Friday. Wish me luck!
