One thing is for certain, the first description of the 'modern' mechanical clock can be precisely dated. It was the description of the clock mentioned by the Italian poet Dante Aligheri in his masterpiece Divina Commedia on which he worked and published from 1307 till his death in 1321. He was thrown out of his native Florence in 1307 and spent the rest of his days travelling from city to city in the North of Italy. As he was given temporary refuge only in these cities, time took on such an important role of Dante's existence.It is well documented that many Italian towns had clocks installed in the belfrys of their principal churches or in their cityhalls. OK, here is the scenario, one of my co-workers came into my office looking to sell this watch because he's had it for a while and never wears it, and because it does not look good on him he wants to get rid of it i know TISSOT makes a PR50 but i have never seen this version of it, and when i told him that he's reply was "i really dont want it so just give me $30.00 bucks and i will bring you the box on Monday" i told him $20.00 because i think its a fake and he said OK so now i have this watch looks nice, feels, real, everything works on it but the curiosity of knowing if i bought a TISSOT for $20.00 bucks and it being authenthic is too good to be true so i seek the assistance of my fellow WTF members to see if i came up on a great deal or notthe model on the back reads J178/278here are some pics

Erard Regulateur mini-review
Here is my new Louis Erard manual-wind, non-hacking regulator. It comes in a stainless 40mm case with leather deployment strap. It contains the ETA ultraflat (2.5mm) Caliber 7001 manual winding movement with a power reserve of 42 hours, as modified by Erard; the frequency is 21,600 VPH. It has 17 jewels and a Etachron fine adjustment system. The exhibition back shows the finishing to be excellent. Screws are fire-blued in the old tradition, as are the hands and the 12, 3, and 9 hour markers in Arabic are enamel. The dial face is silver. Crystals, front and back, are sapphire. Since I just got it this afternoon, I can't comment yet on the accuracy, but I remember an article in the recent Watch Time magazine comparing several regulators, including an Erard containing the same movement, and it gave a good account of itself. It wears comfortably on my 7 3/4-inch wrist. I believe the current MSRP is somewhere in the $1,500 to $1,800 range but I got it at my usual discount house for much,

First time ever, weighing my watches, using da wife's food scale. Here is a head to head comparo: wearing red shoes in one corner, the FC Trulli coming in at a featherweight 108 grams. And standing at the opposite corner wearing shimmering gold shoes, the YG pre-C Sub weighing a super middle weight 178 grams (minus 2 links). I sure hope this scale is accurate.

AP dealer
Hello all - I don't normally post much on this forum, but I thought I'd share something funny that happened at an AP authorized dealer here in so cal. When I entered the store, I did a quick scan to see where the AP section was. There was a gentleman that was checking out watches at the display case, who was trying on a bunch of AP watches. He stood right smack in the middle of the case - all of the great pieces were in the center: 44mm ROO SS/Carbon/Ceramic, as well a bunch of 15400 pieces. I overheard him arguing with the saleslady about the polishing of the 15400. She told him that the links were brushed. Then he said No, you're wrong! they are polished. Just look at it! They went back and forth and the saleslady was getting visibly annoyed. I started to chuckle in my head and couldn't believe it.
