Marc Michel-Amadry Appointed Managing Director of Sotheby¡¯s Switzerland
Marc Michel-Amadry has been named as managing director of Sotheby¡¯s Switzerland. Mr Michel-Amadry will divide his time between Sotheby¡¯s Zurich and Geneva. Sotheby’s said the re-establishment of a pan-Swiss management structure reflects the growing importance of the company’s business in Switzerland and will enhance its ability to provide client services. Michel-Amadry joins Sotheby¡¯s from his position as President and Creative Director of Ebel and Concord, two brands at Movado Group Inc. He began his career at TAG Heuer, where he gained international experience working in Singapore managing the marketing of the brand for the Southeast Asia region. He was then appointed to his first senior leadership role at age 31 as General Manager of LVMH Watch & Jewellery, also based in Singapore. Deep Sea question
Hey guys,I'm new to the forum and looking to buy my first luxury watch. I've decided that my first will be a Rolex and would like some advise on the purchase. In general, I prefer larger watches, so after some research, I've kind've settled on a Sea Dweller. Before trying one on, I thought the older model Sea Dweller was the way to go, because in the pics I looked at online, the ring on the inside of the bezel on the Deep Sea seemed too "busy". I guess the offending part is the new "ring lock system". Anyway, after physical inspection and trying both on in the store, the new Deep Sea feels and looks better to me. What do you guys think about the two watches? I wonder if the older Sea Dweller will be more highly sought after (or collectible, I guess), since its discontinued. The extra 50% premium on the Deep Sea certainly makes me hesitate, but I want the watch I'll be happy with for years. Within the next week, my budget for my next watch may increase to $1,000 - give or take $50 - $100.My guess is that opens up my options, and here are my criteria:Option1: One watch with the following:AutomaticAcceptable for casual or dressy wearSapphire crystalNot a white dial - prefer a brown/bronze colored dial - other colors consideredDate acceptable, but not required, and definitely not a fan of day and date unless it is in some format other than day window right next to date window.No chrono - I've never used the chrono feature on any of the watches I have other than to make sure they work.Prefer Swiss made.Probably no larger than 40 or 41mm.No moon phase.Power reserve would be nice, if subtle, but certainly not required.No gold plating - solid gold would be okay, but I doubt would be in my price range.Well respected brand name among WIS - don't care if people who know nothing about watches know the name.No brands that have an MSRP that is 10 times what anybody ever pays for them
