Orient Producer Review
It's always fun when a watch takes you by surprise. You know, when you've seen something in pictures, but it didn't really click with you, then you see it in person and you get it. In the metal, as they say, the watch makes sense. Perhaps the detailing is better than expected, perhaps the size and weight just work for you, perhaps it has a subtle charm that can only be found when it's on your wrist. This was the case for me and the Orient Producer.Immediately, since it's an Orient I know it's going to be a great value and decently made, especially at the price for a mechanical. But, the look isn't really one that I find inherently appealing. I'm not huge on rectangular watches (though the Orient Masquerade I had was very cool) or open-heart dials. While the design was fine, a handsome dress watch with hints of Art Deco, it just didn't call out to me. Calatrava?
There are no screws on the back of this guy so I can't open it up to get a reference number. But it looks like a Calatrava from the 60s, no?Bracelet is stamped 18K. There is a little bit of yellowing on the sides but obviously white gold that has aged.

Alternative to 5167
I love the Aquanaut and will own one some day, but I've been looking at the GO Seventies Panorama Date which is about half the price of the 5167 and has many similarities IMO. I'm not going to say that the GO is nearly as amazing a watch as the 5167, but it is still a wonderful piece. And the gray dialed GO on rubber especially seems very similar to the Aquanaut IMO. Similar case shape, simple design, sporty yet classy aesthetic, very versatile. Am I crazy in thinking that the two pieces are similar? Do you guys think it's a worthy alternative for some time until I decide to move into a much higher price range which the PP is in? Intriguing AD visit
I was at the mall today with some time to kill and decided to stop by the local AD to try on a 233 (again), since I've been lusting for one ever since I sold my 422, after finally admitting that it wore too large for my liking and was being left at the watch box without getting much use.Well, they didn't have a 233 in the store, which was a bummer, but I got to try on a 533, which I didn't like as much as the 233. I missed the dome crystal and the thinner profile of the 233, although it was nice to have the 9 numeral on the dial of the 533.Then, when I was getting ready to leave, something caught my eye in the watch box, and I asked to try it on. It was a 425 (47mm Rad with SLC dial), and wow! I thought it was amazing!I had never given Radiomir models much thought, but this piece seemed much easier to wear than my 422.
