Today at 10AM Eastern Time Zone (UTC -05:00), Christie’s New York Important Watches Auction will begin. I got to sit with the newly appointed Vice President and Senior Specialist of Watches, Eric Wind, and ask him about a few of my favorite timepieces from this season’s auction. If you’re reading this after 10AM, click here to stream the auction and see what these pieces go for in real time.Lot #26 – Universal Gen¨¨ve Gold Chronograph Retailed by Herm¨¨sUniversal Gen¨¨ve was known as a brand that created groundbreaking designs in the early 20th century. In 1935, the Compax was introduced and it was the first chronograph wristwatch to display both hour & minute registers. Herm¨¨s was one of the first retailers to carry the Universal Gen¨¨ve Compax in Europe but the partnership was short-lived, so not many of these co-branded pieces have survived. This example is from 1936 and has an outer track tachometer in blue and telemeter in red, very large registers, origina

Does anyone have a price list for Hamilton's straps? I want to know if it pays to buy them or if they're overpriced.
If you've been around the forums for a few years, you know who the flippers are. We buy & sell at a fever pitch sometimes, always wanting to try out different watches. Sometimes it's just the way we are, sometimes it's in search of the perfect specimens. We do have a few watches we'll rebuy if the price is right, but once in a while we make a HUGE mistake.....or, as the famous Philadelphia-area hair band Cinderella said: "Don't know what you got til it's gone". Took care of the silliest thing I've ever done just now. Traded away a 1946 Omega Centenary 2500 chronometer last year and I've been kicking myself ever since. Not that I didn't like the watch I received, and it was a fair trade. It's just that the 2500 might be nearly a perfect watch for me. It's a bumper ( ) and a gold dial in a 36 mm case. One popped up tonight and I pounced.with a little help from a couple friends. It's in even better shape than the one I let go, and from 1944 so it's one of the earliest model
Could I seek somebody's kind help to point me to any available scan of a manual for this Montreal Olympic watch - something that tells you how to set the time and use the chrono function. Many thanks for your help.Kind regards, Shairan
