- This watch really catches peoples eyes and then I tell them smell it, it smells like Vanilla, which they think is really cool. It also glows in the dark so you can see the time in dark areas.

Omega 4848.40.31 wrist watches news:
There seems to be interest in this collector's version of the Ventura. It appears to be very slightly smaller than the re-issued model but with a slightly larger strap. The dial on the goldtone version has a diamond chip at the 10 o'clock dot to signify 50 for 50 years but does not say "Electric" on the dial as does the sstl version. Both are Swiss Made. I am told that the goldtone dial is not really black but a very deep bronze with a brown croco strap. Each watch has a number under the crown xxx/1957 made (1957 was the introduction year of the Ventura electric).
I saw this today and wanted some opinions on it.I don't know much about the brand other than the basics like they were made in Lancaster PA (I'm in Philly). I'm pretty sure it's gold filled, and it ran when wound. You can obviously see the price, so is it worth it? Thanks,Dennis
Hi AP family, A fews back, I went to look at a pre-owned solid gold Royal Oak automatic. I was surprised while inspecting it, I noticed it had a steel bracelet clasp mechanism, not gold like my President. Is this factory or could it be a replacement of some kind? If it's factory, I'm curious as to why a fine watch maker like AP would use steel parts in an all gold watch? Does Patek use any steel in the all gold Natilus? I don't recall any markings on this AP clasp. I've always wanted a Royal Oak and this certainly would'nt be a deal breaker, just puzzeling, I guess!?Is this a normal configuration?
I am torn between the casino royale limited edition on rubber strap vs the new 45 mm liquid metal with gray bezel and steel braceletAny opinions and or feedback especially from anyone who has owned one or both would be appreciated!!! Thank you!
So the crystal on my 16233 is crooked for whatever reason, and in order to save money I decide to go to a jeweler/watchmaker chain in my city. I ask the service if it was possible for them to straighten the crystal so I hand her the watch. It is a 16233 with a Preik caseback installed. First thing she tells me This watch is a fake. I literally told her 4 times that its an original and she still didn't believe me and even went as far as telling me that they would have to keep the watch and demolish it if it was indeed a fake. In the end she ended up telling me to go to the AD and have it straightened there as they don't work on rolexes anyways and send them to the AD. After all that I wasn't going to leave the watch there anyways. Do you have any similar or funny stories to tell? I was really surprised to be treated that way. Must be because im 20 years old and she couldn't believe I would own a real Rolex. Little does she know I come from a family of watchmakers and watch enthusiasts.
