Just got these in from Freda Watch Straps -The black 19 mm went on the Polerouter:The bordeaux 18 mm went on the Constellation because I was not feeling the blue croc:Turned out pretty **** good! Lizard always looks nice on a vintage watch.Saving the pair of blue (one new in the first picture, one that came off the Connie) to try on the UG tc/m when it arrives. Figure it has a blue moonphase disc and blued hands so I can't go wrong.
Hello TRF:I currently have a 5711 and BLNR in my two watch collection and I'm in the market for another watch. I have owned many watches but find myself coming back to Patek and Rolex. The big question is what should be next?! I dress business casual to work and pretty casual on the weekends. I'd love to stay around $10k-ish so I'm thinking possibly a vintage Calatrava (preferably not a hobnail dial) or maybe a vintage Rolex like a 1601...Any recommendations for a Calatrava in that price range? (Slightly smaller sizes are okay with me). What reference number for the Calatrava? Which metal is best for retaining value? Suggestions of other watches to complement what I have are welcome if you feel there is something better than Calatrava/Vintage Rolex. Thanks in advance!
I'm deep in the Panerai research after trying on a few on vacation earlier this week. I don't want to drop a lot on one (at least now), which is just as well because I really only prefer the plainest dial versions. I tried the Duo and a couple of others, including an auto, but I really want a manual wind version.I originally stumbled across the 00112 online, which seemed pretty perfect, though out of production now and it seems hard to find. So would the 01000 be a decent option in its stead? I guess my question is, of those two, which should I buy based on the long-term (I plan to keep what I acquire). What I haven't quite deciphered yet is the movement in the 01000.
The title should say it all. This is totally a midlife crisis purchase for a single guy in the early 50s. I'm sure there are pros and cons for both but unfortunately I can only pick one So what say you all TRF peeps?
