Omega 35347100 wrist watches news:
Greetings folks - this Spring, I've spend considerable time (and unfortunately money too....) in tracking down the accessories which would have originally come with my 1970 1680. I had to buy a correct box (inner and the outer "seahorse" box, an anchor, a vintage style chronometer tag, and perhaps the rarest vintage sub accessory of all, the coveted triplock hang tag.
Just finished cleaning up this Lord Elgin Stratford. The case, luckily has no brassing. I've seen a lot of them, brassed on the raised edges. The original JB Champion band, has a bit of brassing on the raised parts on the bottom, which seems impossible to avoid if it was worn. Overall, though, it is shiny and looks good enough for me.The dial has a bit of patina, but is in nice shape as well. All I need is the crystal that Veritas123 was nice enough find for me.Just a little interesting tidbit. As you can see in the photos, the pin ends are exposed. When I got the watch, I noticed they were dirty and took away from the watch and I simply intended to replace them with new ones. On a last second hunch, I polished the ends, and what do you knowTHEY ARE GOLD FILLED! Made to match the case.
I must admit, just the very recent visit to this forum had me SOLD. You guys are a great bunch and the watches are not only wonderful, but have a great history (not to mention the affordability of the price of admission)....and just for the fun of it - after my first visit here couple of days ago, I started to poke around and beganto look into watches from 1942 or 1965. I was totally floored when I found the watch not only from the year that my dad was born (1942)...but it had engraving on the back from the very exact day he was born on !!! The watch was just completely serviced and the price was right. I just had to do it !!(these pictures are taken by the seller and the watch is being shipped to me as I am typing this.Once it arrives, I will throw it in my photo-box and take some more pictures.)....now onto my search for another nice example with a rectangular dial - this one will have to be from 1965 !! ;)
