Is wolf design winder repairable ?
I have a older wolf design 1 watch winder that died 3yrs ago. I have been too lazy to get it fix. Is it fixable ?The winder only worked only a few months before the motor light turn red. Then it just stopped. This winder was really expensive. It cost me $800 quid for it.

Oris has lousy resale value - true??
I've just read in another forum that Oris is right up there as a watch that depreciates significantly after purchase. Admittedly there was no supporting evidence given, so it's no more than one man's opinion.But I'm curious, have any of you experienced this? Is Oris any better/worse than other brands?? Tag Heuer was also mentioned as a fast 'depreciator' - this one I can understand. Tag have been positioning themselves as a prestige brand for a few years now, and charging high prices (IMHO) to encourage a perception of high quality ("It costs a lot so it must be good, right...?"). This is not Tag bashing, I own one (okay, it's an old one), and I love some of their models - the Carrera is on my permanent 'will own one day' list.But I just don't see Oris in the same way. I don't think they are pushing themselves as an overpriced luxury brand; after all their marketing slogan has been 'real watches for real people' or something similar, for some time now. Tried out this beast today!!!
Royal oak tourbillon, felt like a solid brick of elvish craftsmanship. A great size at 41mm and the dial/case are a match made in heaven. The bracelet is thin, yet strong and well engineered (obviously haha) it also finds a way to drape nicely (hard to tell here cause my wrists are small!) without feeling flimsy at all. I am a fan of the royal oak, always have been, but this peice far surpasses the feeling of specialness I get from most models. I dubbed it the golden snitch it just seems to fit. What do you guys think? Worth the 200k price tag? Or would you go with the concept GMT tourbillon?

Omega Newbie Needs Assistance
So I've always been the Rolex guy and have been looking seriously at an AT 8500 with the blue dial. Saw it tonight and man is it pretty. Ive been told Omega had some quality issues sometime ago but now the 8500 in house is well done. I know this is 100% subjective but how does the 8500 movement compare to a similar Rolex movement which in this case would be a sub I think.

So many years ago, 2000, I got a DateJust (Im not actually sure if its 34/36 but its one of those) with jubilee bracelet champagne face and roman numerals.This year will be my 50th and everyone is asking what to do.. I'd rather they put the money together towards something I can keep with me like a watch.Thing is... which?Back then I chose the datejust because it was to me the classic rolex. Nowadays I wonder if a submariner 116610ln would've been a more classic choice. Certainly I'd rather a 40mm than a smaller one.So I asked a few ADs about getting a 116610ln for november and they pretty much laughed.I've been on all the lists in the north west uk since last summer and not one call back.Whilst appreciating this is personal taste.... any suggestions for perhaps easier to get hold of models?
