Perrelet A1038-1 wrist watches news:
It is no secret that in its heyday, the American watch industry was the best in the world. Brands like Hamilton, Bulova, Elgin, Waltham, and others were known for producing the best industrialized timepieces and today that legacy is kept alive in scant few places. Perhaps the only true watch manufacture left in the United States is RGM. Started by watchmaker Roland G. Murphy, RGM is located near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a historic hub of American timepiece production. For the 2013 watches-dealer holiday giveaway, the lucky winner will accompany me (Ariel Adams) on a several day trip to RGM for a unique experience at how watches are made in America. We will spend two days at the RGM manufacture learning about how they make American watches the original way. We will also get a personal, and probably, a behind-the-scenes tour of the nearby National Watch & Clock Museum conducted by Roland Murphy himself (who by the way isn't a regular tour guide at the museum). At the RGM facility you'l
So I'm at this Porsche event that's in Rockville, Maryland today and this older gent shows up with a beautiful old 88 911 Turbo (930 - Slant Nose turbo). He's wearing the same black dialed Daytona that I have on and his wife is wearing a DJ with diamonds on the bezel, oyster bracelet, something I don't usually see. I decide to say something about it "Nice watch, sir - you have excellent taste". Usually it's a deadpan response and a quick chuckle. That happened today too. After a brisk 80 minute drive through the country to the restaurant we were all eating at (about 15 of the original 50 or so people were left at this point in the day) I end up sitting with him and his wife for the lunch part of our event day. I decided to ask him quietly if there was a story behind obtaining his watch. He looked at his wife and said "You better tell him". She goes on to say that he had wanted it for a while and was put on a list. She was at the AD one day and asked "If I donate $1000 to a cause
I WISH, I had written this, but I did not (credits at end)But NO truer words have been written about watch industry.First think of an old European Royal Court, like Great BritainPatek Philippe is the King - stately, regal and reserved. The King does not approve of fancy gimmicks or quick moves; he is solid, dependable - The top of the line.Vacheron Constantin is the Queen - flash, sexy, and sometimes even startling. Audermars Piquet is the artist prince - bold, interesting, often more daring than others, ALWAYS intriguing and often superb!Jaeger Le-Coultre is surely the Prime Minister - shrewd, old and reliable. Often behind the scenes, for years Jaeger Le-Coultre has been helping other companies survive thanks to its manufacturing know how.Jaeger Le-Coultre does NOT have the largest fanciest line, but 'what it does it does well and wisely.'Then there is Rolex, the Knight - the strongest, most sturdy, and most trustworthy; Rolex will go into vigorous battle and come out none the wors
I was looking for a handy way to store my strap collection. If you have a watch collection you need a strap collection, right??I found this on ebay. It's designed to hold 20 watches/bracelets, but it will also hold 40 straps very nicely. It measures 10 inches by 15 inches, ( 25 cm by 38 cm) and when closed is 1.25 inches ( 3.2 cm ) thick.Best of all it cost me less then the price of an average strap.
Hi, so recently my grandmother came to me with this watch, she said it my my grand-father's pocket watch. Guessing with the time and etc.. I figured it would be from the 1950's or something like that. Here is a picture blueminingf.net/pocketwatch.JPGAt the bottom of the watch you can see it is written "SWISS MADE" the watch is essentially made of silver looking metal, the chain is a "Snake chain" also one important thing, the watch works with a spring not a batterie, I thus need to crink it each daySorry for the bad english :P It's not my best language.P.S If this is the wrong section please tell me ill move this thread to the good one.
