Hublot Limited Edition Classic Fusion Watches The Watch Gallery UK
UK watch retailer, The Watch Gallery has recently introduced its latest limited edition partnership, this time with Hublot. Following successful TWG limited edition pieces from brands like Zenith and Bremont, Hublot has produced two limited Classic Fusion models, a chronograph and an automatic three hander. Both models will feature the TWG signature blue on their seconds hands as well as the inclusion of blue tinted case back sapphire crystals. In addition to this distinctive use of color, this is also the first time that Hublot has produced 45mm Classic Fusion models in titanium with ceramic bezels.Both of the TWG and Hublot models measure 45mm across and feature satin-finished titanium cases, black ceramic bezels and anti-reflective sapphire crystals up front. Photographing Time
I know everyone's saying " if there's no pics then it's not true". There is a short story called "Augie Wren's Christmas Story" written by Paul Auster. Awesome story which they made into a movie called "Smoke" in 1995( one of my all time favorites). In it Augie stands at a street corner every morning at precisely the same time and takes one snapshot of the same corner building and the intersection every day for many many years. To the untrained eye it is thousands of the same picture yet if you took the time and carefully studied it you'd see a thousand differences, and this he called his life's work (photographing both Human time And Natural time). Kinda relates to WIS and how nonWIS might look at them and wonder "what is so interesting about staring at the inner workings of a time piece, they're all the same"? Another polishing question.
I am the happy owner of a Speedmaster Pro purchased in the late 70's. It's had four cleanings in that time, no repairs and NEVER been polished.The patina of the hands and dial face is very nice imo and the lume surprisingly shines brighter than my 1997 Rolex Sub.Now the time has come for a major overhaul and since the case has 30+ years of wear and tear I am tempted to have it cleaned up. My watch man is very established, has both Omega and Rolex accounts with top of the line refinishing machines and assures me metal loss will be microscopic and minimal.Inspite of usually being a rather decisive person I'm on the fence with this one. Resale is not an issue since I plan to pass this timepiece on to my son.Given that I'm pleased with the patina under the crystal and have no desire to replace the dial or hands, will a polish bringing it close to new status look odd ?I've been reading all the pros and cons over the years and would appreciate some personal opinions. Just curious to those who own the GMT 16710, what are the service costs for the GMT? I was looking at a few vintage ones, but just wanted to make sure if I bought one that was in need of service what it would cost.
