Just when I was about to pass out from the torture of wait...(in this case 5 days), the postman brought this.By bullosa
White gold was developed in the 1920's as a platinum substitute. Adding white metals to gold will lighten it's color, and some metals have a stronger bleaching effect than others. Nickel, iron, chromium, palladium and platinum are the most effective whiteners. Zinc and silver work almost as well. There is no set standard in the industry to define white gold's color, and the only regulation about white gold at all came January 20, 2000 in Europe pertaining to the use of nickel. Nickel can bleed from white gold and cause an allergic reaction in some people. European Union countries are trying to eventually eliminate the use of it in all jewelry. In the US there is legislation to label nickel alloys with a health advisory. Alternative options like manganese, iron and chromium have been experimented with but unfortunately these metals make white gold alloys that are difficult to cast and are much more likely to crack or tarnish. Palladium and platinum make the whitest color alloys and are
I've taken a few new pics of my beloved 44 in the last few weeks so thought I'd put them up and some older ones. I just love all the layers and finishes of this complex watch, and I've ordered the red GP strap too as I really want to bring out the red accents on the dial.
HiI am interested in buying a Radiomir. I usually prefer to buy mint used as there are some great bargains to be had but I could be persuaded to buy new if there was a distinct advantage. My question is should I buy a good condition Radiomir Black Seal 183 or one of the new references such as a 610 or 380?I prefer the more vintage vibe of the 183 and particularly the sandwich dial which is quite important for me. Yes the newer references have Panerai's in house movement but I really can't see anything wrong with the venerable ETA movements used in the 183 and other older references. Any advice greatly received. Thanks.
So sometime in February I stroll into my AD and inquire about the SD43 126600 list. Now I've go long history with this AD but not the sales person so she tells me there are no lists first come first served.Fast forward to today and I get a call from her and she asks if I'm still interested and I say hell yes. So I jet down to them and there it is in all its glory. She tells me if I want to pass there are others to call and I remind her she told me there were no lists. Laughing she tells me all SS models have lists and I just happened to be first on the SD43 list. After being on bended knee to the boss (read the wife) I'm now the proud owner of my very own seadweller 126600, and I'm stoked
