2014 was a big year for Oris. First they unveiled their mighty in-house 10-day caliber, showing that they were going to start to focus more on manufacturing movements in the coming years, an exciting development. Then, shortly after, at Basel they revealed a new line, the Big Crown ProPilots. Of what we saw in Basel last year, these watches were amongst our favorites. They were simple, clean pilot's watches with cool case details and a modern, but restrained design. Nothing too wild, but they resonated with our tastes and general interests in military and tool watches. Plus, how often does a brand make a pilot watch that doesn't look like every other pilot watch out there?At Basel they showed us three models, the GMT Chronograph, the big day/date and the date. Does my Longines have a name?
Greetings...I bought this Longines at "Mercadolivre" (brazilian version of Ebay). I've contacted Longines before purchasing it, and they told me that it was a genuine 1962 model.But I've never seen a model like it. I heard that "T¨¹rler" could indicate a custom-made watch.Anybody knows anything about this model?I took it to a watchmaker that I trust, and he told me the watch is all original (except for the leather strap, of course). Not a redial.Thanks

INCOMING: Longines Flagship, cal. 285
The local jeweler is a watchmaker and used to sell watches in his store. He still services them, if they are old enough, and he's done work for me before. He's well into his 80's and slowing down, but I still wander in there every month or so to see what he has in his used and consignment case. He usually has several decent pocket watches and occasionally an interesting wristwatch.So, a few weeks ago, I happen to spot a Longine Flagship in his case. He said it was a brand he'd sold back in the day, and this one was just left over from that time. It's been knocking around in a drawer that whole time, and he happened upon it and moved it to the used case. But when I looked at it, he wouldn't sell it to me because the hour and minute hands were not aligned properlythis may be why it was in the drawer in the first place. RSC recommends I replace Dial and Hands
Hi all,I sent my 16710 D-serial (2005) to Dallas RSC. I recently picked it up in a private sale with no known service history. RSC states in the quote under Watch Condition: Hands scratched and Dial spotted/scratched. They are recommending that these parts are replaced.1. How do hands scratch and dials become spotted and scratched if never opened?2. I know it is not considered a vintage watch today, but someday it will be considered a vintage. With all this chatter on TRF to leave the original hands and dial what are the pros and cons to having these parts replaced? It does not have Tritium on the hands or dial, and to my knowledge super luminova does not patina (correct me if I'm wrong).Thanks for all of your input.
