Cartier Astroregulateur Watch Flies In Space
2011 might be the "Astro" year for Cartier. Last year's Cartier Rotonde Astrotourbillon was such a hit that 2011 will have at least two new "Astro" watches. One will be the Calibre Astrotourbillon (with the Rotonde's existing movement), while this one is something totally different. The "Astroregulateur" (Astroregulator) has an escapement that is connected to the automatic rotor - that is mounted on the front of the dial.This concept is really confusing if you don't see it in action. I do admit to scrutinizing the way people wear their watches. I don't always understand people that wear watches too loose. My immediate thought is, "don't they know they can get it sized?" Perhaps people like the loose bracelet feel. You don't often see people who wear watches fitted with a strap wearing them loose. But they they are also those people that wear their watches upside down, and a few other positions that this readable blurb from Esquire magazine depicts.One of the best parts of the article are the drawings by illustration artist Alan Witschonke. He is a masterful artist and does justice to the watch in illustration form.
