Seiko SNE337 wrist watches news:
Been a fan of the new Chrono Hawk watches from Girard-Perregaux but really been waiting for one on a bracelet? When the collection debuted in late 2012 they were on rubber-lined leather straps in black or brown. The sister collection of Sea Hawk dive watches that debuted at the same time were on rubber straps. While decent looking, I personally always felt that this was a watch collection in need of a bracelet to really complete the theme - especially the Chrono Hawk. That time has finally come. For early 2014, Girard-Perregaux finally debuts the Chrono Hawk in steel on a bracelet. The design strongly hearkens back to the Laureato collection of watches from Girard-Perregaux that helped inspired the Chrono and Sea Hawk timepieces. Though, these modern watches are much larger at 44mm wide with wide lugs. The Chrono Hawk, with its long lugs always "wore large" and Girard-Perregaux promised an upgrade to the strap to allow it to wrap around one's wrist more comfortably. It is entirely possi
Darn it, looks like someone talked the seller into an early sale for a nice 14k Oval Engraved that was up on eBay.I was watching it one day and it disappeared the next day and I don't think the seller was fully aware of what he had. Oh wellmaybe next time. I hope someone here grabbed it so we can see some nice pix of it. I would guess it's worth about $5500. Sound about right?
It is case number 5531, which according the 1954 catalogue is the Spencer.I've had the watch and band for a while, but it originally came in a lot with a horrible dial and a non-working movement. In a more recent lot, I received two "less horrible" dials, once with another case (which is in so so shape) and a working 671 with another Elgin 19 dial. What is interesting is the band/case symmetry. Without seeing any adds, I can't be 100% sure, but I'm pretty certain this is the original Hadley bracelet that shipped with the watch. The band's contours flow perfectly into that of the case, and in fact, the last links cover the lugs .The band and case shined up nicely and there is not brassing on either. I salvage the crystal from the other case and worked on it for almost an hour. It still isn't perfect, but it has a neat magnification effect on the dial.As I noted, the dial I used, is the least "bad" of the bunch. I think I'll send one of the others off to ID at some point. My Victorinox Swiss Army watch, from the Classic Infantry line, #241376 arrived this afternoon. Let me just say, the pictures online simply do not do this watch any justice. I can't stop looking at the dial! Here's the specs: Stainless steel case 44mm 330 feet water resistance 13mm thick front crystal Sapphire, treated with anti-reflective film rear crystal is mineral dial-engraved and sunburst effect movement: Mechanical ETA Unitas 6498.1 17 jewels 18,000 VPH power reserve 46 hours made in Switzerland lugs 23mmI hope you don't mind, but I'll just repost my first impressions straight from my blog. The case is brushed, but a thin band around the bezel is polished. That treatment is subtle, but very noticeable. The dial is outstanding. Fitting with the name of the watch, which contains classic and vintage in the title, the dial definitely has the retro look. The color of the dial, to me is a very bright cross between hunter green and olive drab. T
Greetings friends. I have had numerous Panerai references over the last decade. Enjoyed them - then sold them for someone else to enjoy. I am looking to settle down with one watch. Then concentrate on straps. I am not a multiple high(ish) end watch guy - so says she who must be obeyed - so it's just one single watch for me. I am pretty much decided that the one should be a Panerai. But which one? Have had multiple times the following references...000, 005, 111, 380, 372, 1000. Very much like aspects of each one. The 000 and 005 and 380 sausage dials are sexy. Have always liked them. But ~4k for a basic movement and closed case back always left me a little bit lacking. The 111 is nice, but kind of regular. The 1000, meh.The 372 I have had on 3 different occasions. I believe it is one of the best watches in photographs - but on the wrist it frequently didn't sing to me. Not sure if it's too large, or that a ~6k watch with a plexiglass dial turned me off. Perhaps if it was 45mm...Tha
