Seiko SSC229 wrist watches news:
Hello all Happy New Year been a real busy 2012 and I haven't been here as much as I could have been but I noticed the Watch Tech Forum has been removed and was just wondering the reason lack of interest on a technical basis. Anywho just curious. Rik
Hi I'm Peter and I am new to this forum and was hoping some of you collectors might have some information about this watch. This was my grandfathers watch and I've had it since the eighties and never looked into it. Sorry about the poor picture quality. I was guessing it may be from the sixties or even the fifties. Both the bracelet and casing are stamped 14Kt. If I was looking to sell it, would it have any collector value or just gold melt value. It would break my heart to sell it but with business so bad I may have to look at the possibility and don't want to get ripped off. I would appreciate any help. Thanks alot!
A couple of weeks ago had an opportunity to stop in at Tourneau in Atlanta, let me tell you I was disappointed.I was in Atlanta for a GTG, was thinking of a Pam or a Speedy. So the wife and I decided to stop in.Walked in and was given a nod by one guy and another guy did say hello. There were about seven or eight people working at the time??? The selection is incredible a watch lovers dream.....BUT the atmosphere and the service to put it bluntly SUCKED. My wife and I took a quick look around then my wife decided to sit, she had to look around for a seat and finally found one sorta behind a display. I wandered around about five times enjoying the selections when I finally had to walk up and ask for help, the guy was polite but ...Anyway I told the guy what I wanted to look at and he proceeded to get an Omega out of the display and hand it to me. I asked about the price and he gave me suggested list, I asked what I could buy it for and he said we give no discounts but heres a watch wind
Seems prices have been trending up a little bit...although it's difficult to tell how many of these are actually selling. I've really had my eye on a few 5070's (G and R) and would be interested in knowing from those more knowledgeable than me as to what is a fair/good price for a 5070 (excluding the P) in MINT/like new condition with all boxes/manuals/original certificate, etc. Thanks in advance!
